Thank You All . . . for the sweet "get well" wishes :)

Reading all of the get well wishes from my last post, just warmed my heart.
I have made so many lovely friends through blogging and I love you all :)
Well, I'm feeling much better and I have finished my second granddaughter's quilt.
Now, all I have to do is get them wrapped and mailed.

I think that this one turned out so pretty . . .
I know she will love it,
and I gained so much pleasure in making it for her.

This was the first quilt I made using my "Saw Horse Quilting Frame".
It worked wonderfully well.
So, if any of you are thinking about copying my idea . . . please do :)
It will save you a lot of money.

My sister-in-law showed me how to make mitered corners on my binding.

This is the back,

and this is the label.

I also wanted to show you this . . .
in case any of you are looking for gift ideas.

I made this pot holder for my sister-in-law.
This is her grandma and her grandma's sugar cookie recipe,
used each Christmas for many years.

Gifts do not have to be expensive . . .
the best gifts are gifts from the heart.

Thank you all again,
for being such dear sweet friends.

Your blogging sister, Connie :)

    1. Thank you so much and amen to the gift thing. I think that too many people live stressful lives always going in debt to keep up with the fads and trends of the times . . . sincerity and love are the greatest gifts a friend can give.

  2. It's a beautiful quilt. One of my grandgirls wanted to make a quilt this summer. She designed it and I figured out the patterns, we both cut out the pieces, she pinned them as needed and I did all the sewing, she did all the ironing. Took us a week to piece it and get it sewn together with batting. Didn't do any quilting though, just sewed knots on an 8" grid. I've found someone who will do the quilting though if she wants to make another one.

  7. I'm just catching up on my reading Connie and was unaware that you'd been poorly. I too have been unwell hence I've missed lots of what's going on in blogland. I agree that our blogging friends can lift us when we're feeling low and it's a wonderful feeling knowing that others are there for you. I wish you continued good health. Take care.
PS I love your quilt and the pot holder.

    1. Hi Cindy, Don't feel bad about the quilt that your mother-in-law finished for you. I actually have the top to a quilt pieced and stored somewhere is this house that I pieced for my daughter when she was a little girl. I never learned how to quilt, so I never finished it. I was thinking about it the other day and am planning a hunting trip through the boxes in the closets to find it. It is around twenty years old and I think it is about time in got finished, LOL.
I'm delighted that you like the pot holder idea, I used those ink jet transfer sheets to put the photo and recipe onto the fabric.
Have fun and please post photos if you make any :)

    1. Good Morning Louise, everyday I feel a little bit better. I'm probably 90% well and that is pretty good. I just still have a little cough but nothing like before. I'm back quilting and life is pretty much normal. I went two weeks only kissing my sweet husband on his bald head, because I didn't want him to catch this. Then a couple days ago he said, "this is enough" and gave me a big hug and kiss :) I just hate the thought of making someone else sick. Thanks for your sweet comment, your friendship and your lovely kind heart. Have a great day.

    1. Good Morning Leann, thank you so much. I'm just a beginner to quilting, but I find that with each quilt I learn a little more. There is something about quilting by hand that makes me feel connected to all the women before me, when quilting was a way of life. 18. Connie, your quilt is amazing and so important that you put a your label on it a true heirloom. Now the recipie for grandmas sugar cookies is a fabulous idea!!! My son loved when I put a recipe box together with family favorites last year. I think the younger people today are appreciating family treasures more than we did. I don't ever remember being focused on family memorabilia like my son is...I am glad to see it!
