Before and In Progress Photos

Hello to my wonderful
Blogging Sisters.

I've been very busy this last week.
Working on our cottage bungalow every day
and putting in 8 to 10 hours each day.

But, not too busy to take some before and in progress photos.
I will be so happy when I can finally post after photos :)

Here you can see some progress in the living room.

This is the before photo.

This is a small bedroom closet, I used a lot of leftover paint and had fun with it.

The shop roof needed repair and the front porch roof needed replacing . . .
this was a job we had to hire out.
At our ages, we have no business crawling around on roofs.
We'll leave that to the young folks :)

This is the mud/laundry room before and in progress.

I have been skipping around from room to room,
giving the paint in each, time to dry before adding another coat :)
This paneling is requiring two coats of primer and three coats of paint.
It's like painting a room 5 times.
I am getting so tired of painting.
My Sweet Steve has been painting the ceilings,
each night after he gets off work.
These are some old knobs that I have picked up, here and there through the years.
I painted them all white and added them here.
This is the before photo.

I only worked  4 hours on Saturday and Easter.
It was great to have time for family and rest.
It was great not dressing in my paint clothes, too :)

Saturday afternoon I went to my niece's baby shower,
and on Easter we had dinner at Steve's sister's home.
This little hamper/bench was something that I found at "Ross For Less",

also a set of bedroom lamps, aren't they pretty?

As you can see we have been very busy.
Poor Steve only has the weekends and evenings,
after work, to work on the house,
but he's taking a few days off at the end of this week.
Hopefully we can get light fixtures and the kitchen exhaust fan up,
and tear into the bathroom :)

Have a lovely week,
thank you for your prayers :)
My back has been doing pretty good.

KEEP SMILING!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  4. Amazing what a few coats of primer and paint do for dark paneling. It is really brightening things up, Connie. Looking great! I like your color choices, too. Have a great week and don't work too hard.

  5. Connie, oh my goodness!! You will be finished with your cottage and moved in before we move in ours. Good for you! I wish we were able to work on it 8-10 hr days but Hubby can't (like Steve) and the bulk of my work is starting next week (like painting etc) I love the sweet colors of yellow, and that blue/green color in the laundry room! So CHEERY!! You are finding some ADORABLE items to put in your new cottage especially that round bench/stool! A metal roof is a favorite of mine too~~~we may put one on the workshop/garage too next year. Looks like things are moving along quite nicely.....your eclectic touch of knobs in white is too SWEET...great idea! Will you be putting a veg garden in this year? Soooo Happy for you both! Blessings~~~Roxie

    1. Hi Roxie, we have ordered a rototiller from Lowes, but it has been on back order. We really need to get it so we can prepare our soil. I am totally excited about having a place to garden :)

  11. Isn't it amazing what paint can do! We moved into our house 10 months ago and I am still painting! Your place was dark and dreary in the before photos, and now it is coming alive and you can tell someone is loving it because now it is cheery and bright. Keep up the good work but be careful and don't overdo - rest!

  12. Wow....I am thinking you have more energy then me at this point. You sure have accomplished a lot in a couple of weeks. I like to paint, but it helps not to have furniture in the way of progress....I think you will enjoy your new little bungalow when it is finished. With all that land are you going to be able to get a garden growing??? A few fresh tomatoes and cucumbers???

  21. Well, don't worry - the eau de paint will fade. The difference between the before's and after's are wonderful. How satisfying. I hope you're eating well, it's tiring work for sure. Love that closet colour too. Can't wait for photos of you both with your feet up toasting your finished work - although is it ever really finished?

  24. Renovation is such hard work! But, you're sailing right along, and everything is taking on that cottage charm.
I honestly think I only own one set of clothing that doesn't have paint on it ~~~~LOL!!!
I tell you, with all the homes we've renovated, I always wake up, and put on the work clothes :)

Thanks for sharing your pictures and reports of progress with us. From one renovator to another.. I know what a lot of work those pictures represent.
    Hang in there :)

    1. Hi Kerin, I have been washing ad wearing the same pair of jeans for three weeks now. It will be wonderful to roll them up and tuck them away for another paint project, maybe a year from now, :)
I have been smelling paint for so long that fresh air smells strange to me, LOL.
