Look at this sweet little bird's nest . . .
It sets atop this large grape vine wreath
and was made by a little bird a few years ago.
The wreath was hanging on my neighbor's shed at that time.
The other day she decided to take it down and asked
if I would like it . . . nest and all.
Of course I would . . .
now it is hanging on my Art Barn.
Do you think a little bird might move in?
Here's a mini make-over that I did for my front porch.
First I painted the top of the stool white.
Then used painters tape to . . .
paint checks on the top :)
Now it can set right here,
ready and waiting for a cool glass of sun tea
to be perch on it.
Here's the glider . . .
all painted red and decked out with
freshly washed slipcovers.
I wish you had time to stay and sit a while.
It's a beautiful day :)
Notice the railing behind the glider . . .
Do you remember this stack of painted wood
in my last post?
This is what it is for . . .
I hope that by my next post
I'll have finished photos to show you
but for now this is all that is done.
Well, it is time to get off the computer
and on with my work . . .
it sure won't get done with me sitting here, LOL.
Have a glorious weekend!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
You have a gorgeous porch Connie! I hope a new bird utilizes the nest!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I love my porch, it is one of our favorite places to sit Spring, Summer & Fall.
DeleteI know! It would really be cool if a family of little birds moved into that nest. :)
I love your porch! And I LOVE the colors of that stool you painted.... Hmm... I need to paint one now. I hope you get some new birdies to utilize that nest. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend, Connie!
Blessings and Hugs,
Amy
Hi Amy, it would be so much fun if a birdie moved in and had a family in that nest :) I'm delighted that you like my porch and my checkered stool.
DeletePorches should be happy places.
looks great. Must get our chairs out for the front porch. There is still snow on the ground though in Southern Ontario.
ReplyDeleteHi Gill, it sounds like you better wait a bit longer before getting your porch ready . . . I know we all are so ready for Spring :)
DeleteHere's wishing you a warm and happy weekend.
I love your porch. I had a wreath on our front porch a few years ago. Sad to say a bird decided to make her nest in it, but the wreath was very close to our front door. She attack everyone that would come to the door. We moved the wreath to the side of the house and she never came back to it.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty, Birds will be very protective that way. We had two robins run our old cat under the deck of our old house and stand guard for two days. Every time the cat tried to come down they would buzz bomb him.
DeleteI would love to spend a while on your lovely front porch. Hugs mrs A.
ReplyDeleteMy welcome mat is out and you are welcome anytime :)
DeleteYour porch is so cheerful and welcoming! I love sun tea and remember mama making it all the time when I was growing up. I need to make it myslef this summer when I'm home...:) The wreath is very sweet with the nest still attached. Hopefully a littl.e birdie will move in and have a family there. Have a blessed and beautiful afternoon!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
Hi Vicky, it would be wonderful to have a little bird move into the nest and have her family. I'll keep a watch out, if it happens I'll be sure and post photos :)
DeleteThat wreath is a nice addition to your art barn. Your porch looks so inviting and cheery. I love how you did that stool
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Ann, Thank you so much . . . that stool was a fun project and turned it from blue to country. I'll be watching and if I have a little bird move into that nest on the wreath, I'll be sure and post it :)
DeleteYou have gotten a lot done, Connie! I hope a bird finds that sweet nest...so glad you rescued it! Your porch looks so nice and fresh. It is just lovely and I love that little checkered stool. GREAT job- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, we are gradually turning our little house into our dream home. We have not missed our old house at all, even though we lived there for 33 years and did so much through those years to make it ours as well. You would think that we would miss it a little. We do miss some of your old neighbors and drive through the old neighborhood now and then, hoping to see them out working in the yard, so we can stop and chat :) I was surprised that our neighbor was taking that wreath down, it looked great hanging on their shed . . . but I'm delighted that she thought of me. If a little bird moves in, I'll get photos :)
DeleteHi just found you whilst blog hopping :) LOVE your stool, that is so clever :) I also love your porch, we don't really have porches like that in the UK, I've always wished that we had, they look like such a relaxing place to sit with a coffee and some crochet!
ReplyDeleteJillxo
Hello Jill, I had to pop over and visit your blog before replying to your comment. I love your vase cosies . . . they are delightful and such a sweet idea. Having a front porch is a treat. In nice weather it becomes one of your very favorite rooms of the house :)
DeleteI love your glider, the cushions on there are beautiful. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, I made those cushion covers last year. After I washed them and put them back on I noticed some fading in the hexie flowers from the sun, but I should get a few more years out of them. In a few years, I'll be ready for a change anyway . . . that's the way I am :) It is amazing what a difference paint, curtains and/or slipcovers can make to any room or piece of furniture :)
DeleteA very kind gesture for your neighbor to give your the nest!
ReplyDeleteI love the checked stool perfect for your porch!
Hi Christine, When we bought this little house last year we not only got our dream place, but we got the best neighbors ever. Talk about being blessed :)
DeleteYour porch is coming along just wonderfully, love the fresh pretty colors, you have created a lovely place to sit and relax!!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, I am loving our little place more and more each and every day. It will be good when the work slows down and there is more time to sit out there and rest :) Spring is always a busy season, but with our little acre being new to us and a fixer-upper we have had our share of work. On the brighter side . . . Happy Birthday . . . enjoy your weekend and eat lots of cake . . . calories do not count on your Birthday :)
DeleteOh Connie! So cute your stool. What a great job you did. Love the seatcovers, too. Very bright, colorful and cheerful. Good for you. Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, It's raining here, so I'm taking Saturday off instead of working on the porch railing. I'm happy that you like my little stool,it was a fun mini project that brought a little more country to the porch :)
DeleteHi Connie, Your porch looks so inviting. Everything has come together so wonderfully. Now I can picture you out there all wrapped up in the lovely new quilt you shared on an earlier post. If I lived nearby I would be coming for a visit and bringing some apple bread to share. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gloriade, that would be wonderful. We could eat apple bread, drink tea and look through seed catalogs together :)
DeleteNice work! So that's how you do checks...
ReplyDeleteEasy pleasey :) Thank you!
DeleteWell, of course I am in love with that adorable checkerboard stool!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, when I finished the stool my first thought was, Carol is going to like this, LOL.
DeleteI love how your new porch is turning out with the glider and the stool you painted. It's far, far away from where I live, but if and when I ever get from here to there I will stop by for tea or coffee and I will bring my home made cynnamon buns :). You would love those! And maybe Butch would too ;).
ReplyDelete~ Maria ~
That sounds like a wonderful plan :)
DeleteNow all's ya need is a favorite beverage and some hand sewing and you are set girl! It looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, I wish that was all that I needed . . . I'm afraid there is still a lot of work to be done :)
DeleteYep! I think a bird just might move in!! Love your cheery porch. The new table goes so nice and will be perfect for a glass of tea! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHI Nancy, Thank you . . . that little stool makes a nice table there by the rocker and it was a fast and simple make-over :) It would be fun to have a little bird move in, I'll be watching for that. I received your lovely letter this weekend and will try to write back this week. Have a lovely week . . . here's to sunshine and melted snow :)
DeleteYou create a lot of lovely things Connie, so talented you are!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week,
Olympia
Good Morning Olympia, what a lovely compliment, thank you so much :)
DeleteHello Connie, your front porch looks so homely and inviting, the red painted stool came out well. Look forward to seeing your 'after' picture on the picket fencing there. Betty
ReplyDeleteHI Betty, thanks so much for the visit. It is always wonderful to see you. I'm happy that you like my porch and stool :)
DeleteIt's all coming along beautifully, Connie, and the bird's nest is adorable! Maybe you'll have some tenants before the summer is out!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment. I was feeling very frustrated yesterday and had a little weep when I went to bed, but I am feeling a lot better about things today. The last postponement was definitely in the Lord's hands, enabling us to have the rest we so desperately needed, and I am sure that the purpose in this one will soon be revealed to me. I've just got to keep trusting, and hope I get a new date really soon and no further problems - I just want this thing dealt with now!!
Shoshi
Bless your heart . . . know that I am praying for you. The Lord has His own perfect timing and we just need to trust Him. It's not always easy, I know, but when we take the time to look back at all the many times in our lives that He has been there . . . we know that we can rest in His hands. God bless you :)
DeleteHello there, busy lady! I love all the furniture on your porch with all the pretty, bright colors. So cheery! You'll have to let us know if another bird moves into that nest. I'm not sure if they re-use them.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, Some birds do like an older well lived in nest and some birds would never touch a used nest if their life depended on it. Kind of like some people I know, LOL. Thanks for your sweet words about my porch . . . I love our little home more and more everyday :)
DeleteConnie, I feel bad I am always missing your posts! I am following you, but I still miss them and I love to read your blog, it makes me happy and I get to live the country life vicariously. Oh, why don't you put one of those follow by email thingys on your blog...I would sign up and never miss a post! OK....Now...I love your colorful porch furniture, the red glider and checkers...I would love to come and sit a spell!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Hi Carol, you are welcome anytime . . . and if I knew you were coming I would bake a cake :)
DeleteWhat a cute stool!
ReplyDeleteThank You :)
DeleteI'm hope you get a renter for your high rise....:)) Love your furniture as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too! The rent is cheap . . . just a pretty spring song :)
Deletewow.. I love the colors of your porch.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteYour porch looks so inviting! I love the little checkered stool -slash- table! and the rail is going to look great...when it's all done. So far so good. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia, I ran out of paint so I started doing other projects. Will it back to the porch and hopefully have it finished before the weekend :)
