Back Home Again :)

Hello everyone . . .
I have been away for a week
in Northeast Oregon.

The trip was wonderful,
but it is always great to be back home:)

 Here's a selfie for you . . .
Guess who?
That is me and Nancy from,
A Joyful Cottage

This was the first time that I have met one
of my sister bloggers in person.
It was exciting and Nancy is a pure delight.
If you don't follower her terrific blog,
 you're missing out.
This is a photo of the cottage
that Nancy's husband Dennis designed
and is building for them.
Dennis is an architect and artist.
You can see his work here:

Following are a few random photos from my trip.

We all love seeing gorgeous homes.
How would you like to live here?
Elgin, Oregon.
5 bed, 1.5 bath on a 1/2 acre lot.

$180,000

Or if you would like a shop or art studio,
How about this?

 $35,000

In Wallowa, Oregon.

I have a thing for cabooses.
I even met a man, years ago in college,
that he and his wife along with their baby daughter lived in one.
They turned the top section into a bedroom for her.
This one could use some TLC,
but I love it anyway:)
I had a wonderful trip . . .

But it sure felt good sleeping in my own bed
last night :)

There Is No Place Like Home.

I missed my sweet Steve's hugs, too:)
I was gone eight days
and that is the longest we have ever
been a part.

Have a great day!
I'll be out mowing and playing in the yard today,
but I'll be catching up on blog visiting
after that:)

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Ann, it is a pretty old house and in a small town right at the foot of the Blue Mountains. My trip was so nice and our granddaughters have grown so much since November when we last saw them. I do believe they grow 4 or 5 inches a year. It won't be long before they are taller than me:)

  3. How fun Connie! How special to get to meet one of your blog friends. I am in love with that cottage and the building you mentioned for a shop or art studio is fantastic. Oh how I would love to have a shop of my own and a building as gorgeous as that one to house it! Great photos of everything! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy being back with your hubby and sleeping in your own bed! Have a lovely Friday and weekend....:)

    1. Hi Vicky, it was a fun trip. I enjoyed my granddaughters and had so much fun watching them roller blade and jump robe. In the evenings after school we played Sorry and Boggle and I laughed until I almost cried. They would come up with a word that they made up and then when I asked them to use it in a sentence the laughs began. They are 7 and 9. Meeting Nancy was delightful, she is easy to like:)

    1. It was nice to get away and meeting Nancy was a special treat. We had a lot in common and I found that her husband was born in the same town in Indiana that I was born in and lived in the town where I was raised and went to school. It's a small world:) Being back home is great, too. I don't know why, but every time I take a trip I worry about not returning. There are so many traffic accidents and with so many people talking on cell phones and texting these days, it a bit scarey.

  5. I love all your pictures, Connie. I don't know why but all I see is the blank box of you and Nancy. It says "displaying Connie & Nancy jpg but it doesn't show a picture. I have been watching them build that cottage, too. I am so excited for her. I am glad you are home- while it is fun to travel it is great to get home. xo Diana

    1. Hi Diana, I will have to get on Steve's computer and see if the photo comes up on it. Nancy took it on her phone and emailed it to me. I could have not downloaded it correctly. I am far from being a computer wiz :) It was a great trip. I had so much fun with our granddaughters and our daughter had some good news to share . . . It is always fun to go away, but also so very nice to be home again:)

    1. Hi Ginny, I haven't done any thing on it for a long time, but after we get settled a little bit more I may start back up. I have a shop in town that would like to have some of my work on consignment. I just haven't had the time since we bought this place.

  9. Hi Connie, Welcome home! I didn't realize you had gone on a trip and thought you were probably busy working in the yard. I have looked at the tiny houses on the Joyful Cottage blog and it is fun seeing them. Love that bedspread and your pillows looks so cute and cozy. Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, yes I went to visit our daughter and help her with the girls. She is at the end of her work in the hospital and working 12 hour days, besides having assignments to write when she's off. Graduation is just around the corner now and we are so proud of her. It has been a four year course, done in three years, so it has been tough. You know what they say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." That's our girl:) It was a wonderful trip. I had so much fun with our granddaughters, they are a hoot, LOL

    1. I am assuming the Northeastern Oregon was established early on because of the Oregon Trail, but that might be more central Oregon . . . I need to check by history. There are a lot of older homes and small towns with old buildings and so many beautiful farms and big barns through the valley areas. It is a very beautiful slice of America :)

    1. Hi Nancy, it feels great to be home and I brought a little bit of Oregon home with me . . . I purchased a pink dogwood tree, a bleeding heart plant , and a delphinium. They will be wonderful reminders of this trip. They wrapped the top of the tree and slid in into the trunk and out the dropped backseat; it rode sticking into the front between the two seats all the way home. I was in good company, LOL. It is going to be a beautiful addition to our landscape :)
I am so glad that we had the opportunity to meet.

  15. I just got home from a short trip to DisneyWorld on Thursday night, so I know what you mean about getting home. It always feels so good. I've been to Oregon and I loved it. It's so picturesque and there are so many things to see. I want to go back someday. Love your pictures.

    1. Hello Jean, if you ever go back to Oregon, there is a map you can get that shows you a day's trip through many covered bridges. It is a lovely drive to make. Do it in nice weather and pack a picnic. It is between central and inland coast, but very beautiful :)

  16. Aww Connie, what a delightful trip! My husband and I will be going to Canada in June and I will be meeting, for the first time ever a blogging friend as well.
I must go and visit your friend.

    Your photo didn't come up??

    Bless you ~ Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie, you are the second person to tell me that the photo didn't come up. I tried downloading it from an email that Nancy sent, I am not that smart when it comes to downloading send photos. I need to Google that skill and learn to do it better. There is so much that I do not know about this new tech world we live it. Have fun meeting your blogging sister; it will make your blogging experience all the more sweeter:)

  17. I am so glad you had a nice trip - what beautiful scenery! I don't know if it's just my computer but I can't see the picture of you and Nancy. It just gives some words (the name of the photo + jpg) where the photo should be. Doesn't it feel good to be sleeping your own bed again? There's no place like home!

    1. Hi Melanie, My mistake on the photo . . . I tried downloading it and where it went I do not know . . . I could find it after downloading, so I tried copy and paste. I'm not the brightest chip when it comes to computers, LOL. My trip and visit was wonderful, but being home is great, too. Nothing makes you appreciate home, like being away :)

  18. Good Morning Connie,

Welcome home. Traveling is such fun, so many new things to see and experience but always so good to get back home as well. My husband is looking forward to my getting out of school so he can hit the road again. Your pictures are lovely, such a variety of architecture and what a joy to be able to meet a new friend face to face.

    1. Nancy was the first blogging sister that I have ever met face to face . . . she is a very sweet gal. My trip was great, and I had a ball with our granddaughters. Our poor daughter was working at the hospital leaving at 6:45 a.m. and getting home 7:30 p.m. with time to eat and write papers. She graduates this June and we will all be happy about that. It's been a long hard pull. This will be her second bachelor's degree and hopefully her end of going school :) She is excited about having a regular job and having free time to get more community involved. Boy, you sure do appreciate home after sleeping in a strange bed for a week. Even if it is comfortable, it is just not home:)
