Saturday Yard Sale Bargain.

Friday evening we decided to roast hot dogs for dinner.
Steve wanted chips so I ran to the store.
While I was there I picked up a
Nickel Saver.
(A little county wide classifieds)
~~~~~***~~~~~
To my surprise our neighbors two houses down the road
 were having a yard sale.
 I always get excited and forget to take before photos.
This chest of drawers was solid wood,
but the top drawer was broken.
So they had it priced at $5.
 I didn't have pink paint so I mixed some
white and red together
and painted the frame.
  Then I took some drawer liner paper,
 that I had bought years ago at the thrift store,
 And used decoupage glue . . .
And covered the three good drawers.
I spray painted the handles white.
 Put them back on.
 As you can see I left the top drawer out,
to use as a shelf.
Not bad for $5 and an afternoon project.
I love having creative storage
in my Art Barn.
Well, that is what I did today.
 I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend.
  1. How cute!
    I am shocked to see a used dresser (made of wood!) for $5...
    I've not found very many good deals like that lately...(well, except that free couch and chair last week) :) So can't complain.
    Wish I could say I turned it around and it's all finished like your dresser.
    There will come a time when I'll all done, won't there?
    Love your dresser...its so cute, your ART BARN is always so cheerful to see.
    Take care Connie!
    1. It was a great bargain and not one that you see very often. They opened their yard sale at 8 A.M. and we were there around 8:30, or I am sure it would have already been sold.
  2. Hi Connie, Great idea and lucky you! Fits so well into your art barn!! Have a nice week-end. Bob is still suffering so appreciate your prayers. Thanks! Nancy
      Yep, this was a great deal and I had a lot of fun making it over :)
  3. Connie, you are a miracle worker. How funny that it is called "the nickel saver." it used to be " the penny saver." Soon it will be "the dollar saver!"
    2. Hi Connie! I'm so happy that you have discovered the Dottie angel dress. You are going to have so much fun making it. Maybe you can even find some flour sack fabric! The girl that designed the pattern lives in Carnation, Washington. I think that may be near you!
    3. Carnation is over on the wet side of our state, near Seattle. We live in the center in a desert agricultural area. We are known as the ranchers, farmers and cowboys and they are own as the moss backs, LOL. I am excited about this pattern. Bought it this afternoon and I already have my fabric washing :)
  7. You're always coming up with something good. That looks great. We have the penny saver here. I'm going to have to look and see if they are calling it the nickel saver now
    1. I know, real wood these days is a treat. So many are made with pressed wood drawers and they just do not hold up as well as solid wood. I'm happy that you like my re-do :)
  9. That's a really cute project, Connie. And what a deal. The painting that's above it looks so much like one that my daughter painted in high school art class. It was a self-portrait. The hair, the colors.....almost identical. The only difference that I can see is that your girl's head is tilted and, Whitney's wasn't. Isn't that amazing?
  10. Oh my goodness Connie! I LOVE what you did with the dresser! What an amazing find and such a deal! The drawerr liner you used is absolutely beautiful. I love the shabby roses! I also love that you left the top drawer out. You will be able to store a lot of goodies in it. Do you already have it filled up? LOL! Have a beautiful Sunday my sweet friend.
    1. Hi Vicky, actually after taking the photos, I opened the drawers and thought that I should let everything set overnight to be sure it was completely dry. I would hate to go out this afternoon and find that the drawers where glued shut, LOL. Everything felt dry to the touch, but all that it would take is a little drop of stray glue. Now maybe I can get better organized, like a sweet Florida blogging sister that I know :) Happy Spring!
  24. Hi Connie! Great find - and right down the street! Your transformation is perfect!
    I took a rigid heddle loom class a few weekends ago; and yes, I bought a loom. I need to put it together and play around with it.
    I love finding things on Amazon. Those sandals are very comfy. Kind of remind me of Birkenstock.
    Have a great Easter.
TV on top, DVD player on the shelf and the DVD's tucked away in the drawers, neatly organized. This is one for our Cottage Sisters Gift Shop, Connie. LOL Hugs, Nancy
    1. Nancy, you won't believe it, but today I went to the nursery to buy blackberry bushes and they were having a yard sale. I purchased another chest of drawers. My girlfriend laughed and asked me if I needed her to pray that I could find a stop to put it in the Art Barn, LOL. I already have it painted and tucked in very nicely. When it comes to a creative space, you just can't have too much storage :)
