Tulips & Dishtowels

 I hand embroidered
this set of dishtowels
and have been waiting for my tulips
to bloom to post them together.

I love cutting fresh flowers
from my garden and bringing them inside.
These are the first this year.

Here's wishing you all a wonderful week.

We will be working on the
Art Barn addition this week.
So, I should have more photos
in my next post :)

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Trisha, Thanks for stopping by to say, hi. I was fortunate in having a mother who taught me at a young age. I hadn't done it in many years, but it was like riding a bicycle. There are lots of great how to books at the library . . . pay them a visit and you'll soon be posting your new dish towels :)

  3. Hi Connie! I love your towels - so cute! I have tulips blooming at my house too! It's going to be fun seeing what pops out of the earth. I know I have some butterfly bushes, vinca, hollyhocks (one of my favorites) and lamb's ear.

I hope you are doing well and had a nice Easter.

    1. Hi Nancy, the barn project is coming right along . . . we got the roof on over the weekend and will be working on the outside walls this week. I'm loving it, except for the pain in my back and shoulders. The older I get the harder big jobs like this have become :)

    1. Our home was build in 1905 and the kitchen and bath were probably added in the forties. Thank God for indoor pumping :) These vintage looking dishtowels fix in perfect with my vintage farm kitchen. I enjoy some sort of hand stitching in the evening while watching TV with my hubby. If I don't have a project I fall asleep, LOL.

    1. If I don't have a project in the evening when Hubby is watching TV, I just fall asleep. Embroidery and hand-quilting, are perfect evening lap work . . . my mother was the same way, we have to keep busy. I think that you are the same way. You are always doing something in your yard and with your animals, besides all your aprons and bonnets. You know, I think that we would be great neighbors. Want to move to Washington?

    1. Good Morning Vicky, because of our time differences it is 5:50 a.m here and I am drinking my first cup of coffee and waiting to see if the sun is coming to peek out from the grey morning sky. On the other hand you are probably knee deep in kindergartners. We tried working on the addition yesterday after Steve got home from work, but just after getting the tools are out and cutting the first sheet of siding, the dark clouds came over and it started to rain. So we had to scurry and put everything away and tarp our building material. Hopefully tonight we can try again. The roof is on so I'm going to spend my morning putting up insulation between the rafters. I hate that itchy stuff . . . do you know what I mean? Thanks so much for stopping by and re-posting to be sure I saw your comment, you are the best!

    1. Hi Connie, I found both of the windmill containers at the Goodwill and those little colorful bottles I painted last year. They are fun, bright and easy to do with any old bottle. I enjoy putting flowers on my kitchen windowsill and small bottles work great there. I am delighted that you like my dishtowels; after taking these photos I hung them in the kitchen.

  22. Just darling Connie! Where do you get your sweet embroidery projects and towells? My mom taught me to embroider also, probably when I was 10 to 12 yrs old. She loved it and so did I. I made many sets of pillow cases! Unfortunately I have none left to show for it. I need to get a good light for night time hand work as I watch TV. I keep saying that and don't do it! Also.... your cute little vases at the end photo are just sweet too... they match the tulips so well. I think in our new (old) house that we moved to a year and a half ago (has it been that long already?) has one lone tulip in our back yard. I need to go see if it has bloomed yet. Our weather has been very similar to yours! Also... I am amazed that you are doing so much yourself on the art barn addition! I keep telling hubby, at ages 68 and almost 70, that I wish we could attempt to build "something" just to see if we can do it! Neither of us are that handy, but I DID help build two houses back in my 30's so I do have the knowledge and I can follow plans and instructions. This summer maybe I would like to attempt at least a bench or something! I'm anxious to see your addition and how you plan to fill it up! Hugs.... Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn, I purchased the striped towels at Walmart in the needlework section. Also they have little packages of iron on transfers for only a dollar. You'll have to check it out. ***** Go buy a good light!!! It's important! Not having good lighting is keeping you for doing to many things that you enjoy. well I just got out of the shower and need to fix dinner. I worked on the addition for nine and a half hours today. I'm going to sleep good tonight, LOL.
