Doing The Yard Sale Happy Dance

  Cock-a-doodle-do!

Good Morning ~ My Sweet Blogging Sisters :)

~~~*****~~~
I've been out finding some great
yard sale finds again . . .
how about this rooster tea pot for $2.
I Know!
Cute, right?
And these 2 little love birds . . . for $1.
Can you see them perched on top of the cake,
at a vintage style wedding :)
 You know I love hens & roosters.
I bought 3 of these plates for $3.95 at Goodwill.
On Tuesday I found 4 of these for $3.95 at the Goodwill.
I think they look perfect for a farmhouse kitchen.
But wait just a minute . . .
On Friday, out visiting a local yard sale,
I found a stack of 10,
of the same plates for $1,
that's 10 cents a piece!
~~~*****~~~
Can you jump up out of your chair
and do the "Happy Dance" with me?
 ~~~*****~~~
Back to my new rooster tea pot . . .
this hen was a Goodwill find last summer.
~~~*****~~~
What do you think ~ perfect match, right?
~~~*****~~~
Friday I went to Home Depot
 and bought 3 fence boards.
Then Saturday morning I went out to Steve's shop
and built this for my tractor cart.
Well, that's the fun stuff from last week.
I'm sure you don't want to read about me
cleaning house, doing dishes and pulling weeds, LOL.
Life Is Good.
Connie :)
    1. Hi Janie . . . my first dance partner . . . I should probably stop doing yard sales for the rest of the summer . . . while I'm a head of the game. The next twenty will probably be duds, LOL isn't that how it goes :)
      Thanks for stopping by and dancing with me.
    1. I was thinking the same thing . . . a party outside under the apricot trees. I would have to wait until our weather cools down, it is in the 100's right now. Much to hot for enjoying a meal outside. I was very excited about finding that rooster tea pot, he is most certainly a treasure :) Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment. Happy Summer!
    1. That hen does have a lid, but big for a sugar bowl . . . unless you like lots of sugar. I'm thinking a small cookie jar . . . just enough for a small group to enjoy. They will probably spend most of their lives just sit on a kitchen shelf looking pretty :) Thanks so much for visiting, it is always a pleasure :)
    1. Hello Martha, thanks so much for popping in to visit. We only have an acre, but we refer to it as our little farm. Roosters in the kitchen just seem right :) It's nice to meet another blogging sister with similar decorating tastes :)
    1. It's the only way to decorate . . . All most everything in my home that isn't a major piece is yard sale or thrift shop. It is amazing all the great things that you can find . . . you know the old saying, "one man's junk is another man's treasure" . . . and when they get tire of it and think that it's junk you can purchase it cheap :)
    1. I know I have been too busy to get out until a couple of weeks ago. Right now the garden is on growing mode with a few vegetable starting to come on. In a few more weeks it with be full blown canning time and I won't have time for yard sales again :) This was a lot of fun and I love my rooster finds. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.
  13. Such cute things you found at the yards sales.
  14. Oh Connie... Mr. and Mrs. Rooster are such a perfect match! Love them! And those chicken plates and the red checkered plates... how perfect for your country kitchen! Love those mugs by the way, with the red chickens on them. And those two little yellow love birds? just darling. I'm swooning already.......... I don't go to many garage/yard sales anymore as I have so much "stuff" already and hardly room for anything more unless we get some more shelves built! (smiles)..... and then we can get to shopping again. My hubby loves to go to the thrift stores and find little knick knacks.. so my shelves and hutches are FULL of knick knacks. It is so fun though isn't it? and the better the bargain, the better the find.
    I'm SO ENVIOUS that you can build things! I love the new improved cart. My hubby build a a wood rack once for our truck (a few years ago) so we could haul our alpacas around.. and all that's left is the back gate which I now use as a sort of "trellis" up my fence for my cukes to grow up. I would love to attempt a matching one (I mean is easy.. just some 1x4 and 1x6 boards - how hard could that be?) as I have two more tubs of the lemon cukes this year and they are growing like crazy!
    Hope this week will be a good one for you. Earwigs here are eating up most of my flowers (the leaves) and I'm so mad! I didn't realize earwigs like this dry climate. Do you have trouble with them? what do you do? also.. little caterpiller moths are eating up my raspberry leaves. And I thought once I left the WET climate of SW Washington (where slugs ate everything) I would be safe from pests.. but that's not the case. Would those rubber snacks scare off the moths?? hee hee..... Hugs.. Marilyn
    1. Hi Marilyn, we have terrible earwig problem this year and I hate the little boogers. I have been using the s_it word so often it's becoming a summertime chant, LOL. I saw on "you tube" to put out small shallow bowls of olive oil . . . it attracts them and then they drown in it. The problem is if your dog gets it first he will eat it and then process to throw up :( So I haven't tried it, but if you do let me know how it works. I like thrifting and about every 5 years I have a yard sale or a truckload of donating . . . otherwise I accumulate too much stuff. That way I can change my style and still do it on a budget. Win-win :)
    2. Connie.... I searched YouTube for earwig disposal! I did find the one on oil in a tin and adding some soy oil too. I've tried it. My little tins are full to overloaded with dead earwigs! Works great, but you have to keep going out and refilling the "trap" every couple of days.. and the little buggers are still chomping away! And also, I put one out in my back raised flower bed, more out in the open, and noticed it was entirely empty of the oil! so I'm sure one of the stray (hungry) cats lapped it right up. Seems like the tin needs to be pretty buried under the leaves. Also.. as much as I have to put out, I would use a big bottle of olive oil very quickly, which can get expensive! I've used a commercial spray to spray the leaves, and it works somewhat, but once you water and the leaves get wet, then it is washed off and you have to do it again.. also expensive and not good for the environment. Those critters are chewing up my marigolds most especially, and my holly hock, slavia, lilac and my mums. Just devastating them. I put out "water" traps last year.. just little dishes of water and it did drown some of them.. may try that again with a little dish soap in the and maybe just a touch of oil. As far as thrifting.. I too have a garage sale every couple of years.. to get rid of the old and make room for some new (old) stuff! I hate having them, but that's the only way I can deal with all the clutter and knick knacks that overwhelm me! And if/when we move, we always have a sale too! I'm trying to have one this summer, to make room in our garage to set up a little woodworking station.. but in this heat, I just can't get myself to go out and work in that (hot) garage! Take care.. Marilyn
  17. Well Connie, you definitely made me dance with you! I LOVE your cute rooster teapot! What a great find, and the hen is perfect with it. I also loved the little love birds! They're adorable. In fact, every thing in this post was delightful! I too have roosters, hens, etc. in my kitchen mostly glass ones but a few that aren't. Enjoyed your post, as usual!
  19. Hi Connie, love all your finds, those birds are so darn cute! I have to say I love those rooster cups behind the wonderful teapot find. Keep scouting and bringing back those wonderful finds.......for me dishes are so compact that we can buy tons and they wont take up space right??? seeing that we stack them neatly. My husband would disagree he says I have a dish problem,lol Lisa @ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
  21. Hey Connie! That rooster and hen are so cute!! Looks like they were made to go together. You really do find the cutest things. I was in Goodwill this morning but didn't find much. Did you ever download that apron pattern? Just wondering because I've had a heck of a time following the instructions. I don't understand their terminology. I'm sure it's just me. I have to have "very simply"! I love the side boards you built for your little tractor.
    1. Sorry to say that I didn't download it, I thought that I would try and find one in a Simplicity or McCall pattern at the store, so far no luck but I'm in no hurry. This time of the year I don't have a lot of time to sew. I have a birthday quilt to get done by September and I have another that I started last fall that I am wanting to finish and put in the fair. I haven't put anything in the fair for years, but I thought it would be fun. At my rate it probably won't happen, LOL. The garden and then canning keep me busy outside . . . sewing of any kind seems to be put on the back burner. A couple of hours here and there when possible. The photos of your aprons look lovely, but I know how it is when you want something to go a certain way and it just doesn't. If I ever find another pattern that looks easier I will let you know right away :)
      Thanks so much for stopping by. I love it each time I see that you have left a comment. Wish we were neighbors, I think that if we ever worked on a project together we would be a powerhouse team. You do so many things on your farm that I love and that add so much charm. One of my favorites is the fence you built for your green beans. Have a happy day and give Eli a hug from me :)
  22. Well while you have been out thrifting I have been going through stuff and getting rid of it! If I run across any cute rooster or hen stuff I'll send it your way. Although I don't remember having any of that type of stuff. I have been trying to get rid of about half of my stuff. It's hard!!! I think I need it all. You did get some great deals. Unbelievable that you found the exact plates at Goodwill and a yard sale. Meant to be.
    And btw, you can come join our parties anytime you want!
    1. Be careful what you say, I have some air-miles saved up, LOL. Just kidding, I'll be using them for visiting daughter, granddaughters and brother :) My dearest loved ones live so far away . . . it's just not practical to drive. It's hard knowing what to get rid of sometimes . . . some of the things you give way are the things you wish you had back a year later, or your going through Pinterest and there is a great idea, if only you still had that object, LOL. Thanks for stopping by and your offer touches my heart, you're a sweetheart.
