Senior Moments & Getting Ready For Autumn

Not Growing Old....Gracefully
Well I guess I'm getting
old and having senior moments
more often than I realized.
Did you catch the title of my last post?
"October Blooms"
The post was on Sept 22.
LOL At Myself!
You were all too sweet and polite
to correct me :)

Even though I'm not fond of
winter's freezing temperatures,
I do enjoy living in an area where there
is definitely a change in the seasons :)

I've been clearing my closet of
short sleeve tees and peddle pushers
and filling it with sweaters
and long pants.

Look at this #zulilyfind! 'Life Is Better in Flip Flops' Wood Wall Sign #zulilyfinds

Do your feet get callused more
in the summer?
Especially your heels?
In the spring I am so ready for
flip flops and sandals,
but by fall I am ready for
warm socks, shoes and boots.

Hi Knitters, I finished my first pair of Patchwork Socks a couple of days ago. Make no bones about it, they are pretty darn fun and cute...

I could almost feel my feet saying,
 "thanks you"
as I slipped on my woolly socks.
(all photos on this post are from Pinterest)
 Don't you just love these socks?

~~~~^^^~~~~
Thank you all for being so kind
&
not drawing attention to my
Senior Moment :)
 Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
  1. It wasn't politeness that kept me from telling you that it wasn't October yet! More like I never even noticed! I actually had to go back and check if indeed it read October. How fuuny!
    I love the cute socks.
  2. I love all of the pictures today! There is definitely a nip in the air here too. I don't mind the cold temperatures at all, I just really detest the snow. We've already had snow on the top of Mount Spokane last week. I have never seen it fall there so early in the 25 years we've lived here. Stay warm and enjoy seasons my friend. Blessings, Betsy
    1. Hi Betsy, I have been having a feeling that we will be having an early winter. That is why I have been clearing my garden . . . there is just a real crispness in the air that is usually found more in middle October. Hey maybe that's the reason for my senior moment, LOL. Snow on Mount Spokane in September, WOW!
  3. Oh well! Close enough!
    We have rain today and a definite drop in temperature. I must knit faster! AND don the UGG boots.
  5. Senior moments? What's that? Not that I have them!!!... I am going to try to knit socks after I get all my Christmas stuff shopped for and made. Wish me luck. Never tried those before. You know what, I like the person I have become also. What ever happened to the other one, lol.... Hugs, LJ
    1. I know, I wish that I had been as confident and knowledgeable in my twenties, thirties, forties and even further than that, LOL . . . as I am now. With age comes a whole lot of common sense know how. Not just that but life and going through all the ups and downs of it has increased my faith and made me a stronger woman.
  7. Time is going so fast I can't keep track of the months! I'm not a fan of winter, so I think I'd be happy living in an area with three seasons!!!
    1. You have to chance your thinking . . . I've gone from Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter to Spring, Summer, Fall & Quilting Season. In your case Spring, Summer, Fall & Knitting Season :)
  12. Ha ha. I thought there was something that I just wasn't getting. :-) Love all your "oldie" photos.
    The temps of these last couple weeks have been so delightful, even with chilly nights. I thought about pulling out the autumn stuff, but now the forecast is for upper 90s again this coming week. sigh. Well, that is cooler than 110, but I'll wait a bit on the warmer wardrobe.
    1. I don't think that I would have the skills for knitting socks . . . I think you use about four double end needles and I've never done anything but two regular needles. When it comes to knitting I'm at the true beginner stage. I like how these socks are made with so many happy colors:)
  14. Oh my! I didn't even notice the wrong month! I have senior moments too! Keeps life interesting and makes me humble! Love those sox but they are beyond my knitting ability! We are having weather in the 90's! Broke records a couple days. Have a great week! Nancy
    1. I remember Autumn in Indiana, it is so beautiful there. We do not have the natural deciduous trees here that you have there. If we have a tree it is either growing by a lake or it has been planted my man and watered with irrigation and sprinklers. No forests and woods to enjoy, only sagebrush :) The dessert does change color with the seasons, but nothing like the trees of Indiana.
    1. There is a reward living where the seasons change. I find that I look forward to cool weather after a long hot summer. I look forward to doing yard work in the Spring, but by the end of Summer I am ready to put away my garden tools, LOL
  21. HAHAHA Senior moments are a way of life for me now. I did not notice the mistake. Perhaps that just says we become less critical as we ride into senior years? Clearly a plus. I am bothered less by my mistakes. Like you, I see the humor in them.
    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I so agree . . . I think that is called maturity, or maybe wisdom, LOL. Learning to not be critical of others and of yourselves is a huge step and one that most of us get better at after we have lived life and realize that we all make mistakes :)
  22. Ha ha I think we all have moments like that, Connie! I'm ready for fall but we're having a weird spell of Indian summer here!
  23. I thought you were being optimistic of the blooms you hoped to still have next month :) I have many senior moments so I totally understand!
    We are still having very hot weather here but I am excited that by the end of the week they say we will have normal temps again, I do enjoy the 70's, I can be out any time of the day and enjoy myself being outside :) I do look forward to the changing of the leaves!
    1. I enjoy the 70's and even the 60's, too. It's a most comfortable temperature. I'm tired of sweating when I'm working outside. I started taking Turmeric for my arthritis and it causes my sweat to be yellow. When I come in from outside and wash my face and hands the suds are yellow . . . Ugh! I'm not sure if it's helping, so I'll probably stop when the bottle is empty . . . stopping should be the test of whether it was working or not :)
  24. The calendar says it's fall, but here in my part of Texas the temps say it's still summer! I'm anxiously waiting for wooly socks weather. Hope it gets here soon! Have a great day.
  26. I just now read this post and haven't read the previous one yet, so maybe I wouldn't have noticed! Don't feel bad; we all have our senior moments. I'm "only" 55 but I had one of those senior moments just today: Our contractor was over to give us an estimate on some new window trim and I was supposed to ask him about baseboard trim in the kitchen and advice about one of our window wells in the basement. Well, I totally forgot about the baseboard and the window well. So I had to call him after he left and ask him to come back...of course, I apologized profusely! I told him I needed more coffee. :-)
    1. Don't you just hate that . . . especially when your senior moment affects someone else. Sometimes I think that I need a small notebook in my pocket just to get through the day without forgetting something or other. Problem is I would probably set it down and forget when it was, LOL. It sounds funny when I say it, but it true :)
  27. Hi Connie, You’ve put together another fine post for Crafty Home Cottage. I sure hear you and agree completely about the change of seasons. I’m so looking forward to our cool and, yes, even rainy weather! :-) Those socks look great … can’t wait for a day when I can wear some thick socks again! Thanks, as always, for stopping by my blog and your kind comments. And thank you for your wish for a happy Autumn … may I send the same to you! Very best regards from Seattle! John
  28. I never gave your title a second thought anyway! I guess I too thought it was already October! hee hee.... oh well... I think we look ahead to the next month so much, that when we actually get there, we're already looking ahead to the following month! and we wonder why time flies huh? I DO keep a list on my table, all the time, of things I need to do... plus I have many "layers" of lists.. those for long term projects, those for things that I need to do in the next week or two, and the "daily list" for today's reminders! Without them, I'm sure I'd forget everything (which might be good sometimes)!! Enjoy the cooler days.. we sure are! Marilyn
  29. I'm a wee bit jealous of your cool temps now. We were still up in the 80s today, but should cool off this week. I want sweaters and fun, warm socks like those you show! Those pictures of illustrations are so delightful, esp. the granny on the sled!!
