BoHo Wreath . . . Let's Make One

*******
I have been admiring these
BoHo dream-catcher wreaths on Pinterest
and decided to make one of my own.
*******

I started my stretching a doily across the
inside ring of an embroidery hoop.
I used a glue stick and clothes pins to security it.
When the glue was dry 10 minutes or so,
 I removed the clothes pins
and put the outside ring over the smaller one.

Next I went through my stash of ribbons,
 fancy yarns, and string.

I cut long pieces being sure they were
twice as long as I wanted them to be.

I looped them somewhere close to the center
and pulled them through the bottom edge
of the doily.

All you need to do here is loop them
through themselves.
They will stay nicely in place.

Next, because I wanted a pretty silky flower,
I went to my fancy fabric basket.

And followed the directions at
The Polka Dot Closet.
*******
Carol was one of the first blogs
that I fell head over heels
in love with years ago.
Now, she doesn't blog, but instead runs one of
the most successful Vintage Flea Markets
in Orlando, Florida.
If you are planning a trip to
Florida in June,
She'll be posting dates here:
Next I hot glued my finished
flowers onto my wreath.

*******
That's it!
*******
A lot of pretty for an easy project.

Here it is hanging in the Art Barn,
along with one of my paintings,
and a fabric chair that I painted
a couple of years ago.

Well, tell me is this wreath a project
that you would try making?

  2. Hi Connie, Your wreath turned out very pretty. Probably not a project for me with not much space. Love the pineapple doily. Love the idea of a fancy fabric box! Thanks for sharing! Nancy

    1. I rarely use any fancy fabric, but once in a while it's nice to pull it down for a craft :)

  4. Connie, everything on that wall is beautiful! I was drawn to the painting. What inspired you for that? It's lovely! And that stopwatch style clock...the wreath/dream catcher, it's very pretty, very delicate and feminine!! I made one years ago that got lost in a move, I would definitely make one again, but maybe I'd use feathers instead of the ribbons!!! :)

    1. Hi Rain, I would have added some feathers with the ribbons if I had remember what I've done with them. Somewhere in a special place I have a little envelope filled with white fluffy feathers that would have works great. I guess if I ever come across them I can always add a few then. Thanks for stopping by :)

  7. Your dream-catcher looks just right in the place you have chosen for it. I do like that blue painted daydreaming chair!
I would like to crochet mandalas and attach them into hoops, but I haven't yet found the hoops I need and Amazon won't send them to where I live for some reason!

    1. I have often wondered whether Amazon is truly world wide or not. Maybe you could find them in a thrift shop, I have run across some from time to time, but here I buy them at Walmart. There are so many of these wreaths on Pinterest even groupings of them used to create bedroom headboards. check them out if you haven't already, they are beautiful. I am delighted that you like my chair . . . I always wanted to give painting fabric furniture a try, this was my first attempt.

  8. It's darling... boho and kind of shabby chic too! Love it and the colors and pink flowers. I have a passion for making fabric and paper flowers! Those are darling. Every time I see a new technique, I have to go out and buy that certain type of fabric (like chiffon, or burlap, etc.). It looks pretty and I think I would love one in my pink bedroom! I should browse Pinterest more for ideas. Seems like I saw some other kind of dream catchers lately but now can't remember where. Darn! I would definitely make this! Fun fun fun... xoxo Marilyn

  9. Beautiful wreath, I love the embellishments. I smiled at how you labelled your fabric "fancy fabric", I would have trouble defining "fancy".

    1. Well, fancy to me is the stuff that is silky and filmy and not good for much other than ballet costumes and such. I only purchase it when I have a special project, then the remains end up in my fancy box, LOL. I'm so happy you like my wreath.

    1. Thank you Bj . . . I get a lot of ideas from Pinterest and I had been wanting to make one of these for a long time. If I had realized how easy it was, I probably would have made it a year ago. I'm so happy that you like it :)

  13. Great idea taking an embroidering hoop and a pretty doily as the base for the wreath and then embellishing it further. So cute.

  14. Oh, my goodness Connie...pls forgive my muddled mind for never finding your blog before...I guess I am still under water!!
When I lived in Miami, Florida, I worked on the Miccosukee Indian reservation. I learned to make dream catchers there...but nothing as fancy as yours..xo

    1. What I love about my Art Barn, is that anything goes. Our home is more toned down as far as decor, but out there, if I see a project that I want to do, I do it and it fits in. I like it being filled with cheerful happy things as well as colors everywhere. My happy place. I'm so happy that you like my wreath :)
