Raking Up The Pine Cones

Some friends stopped by while I was raking pine cones.
While we were talking, he used the opportunity
to take my photo in order to show his wife how to take
photos and put them into her text messages.

This is just one of the endless jobs
of having a large yard.

Hey, I could be paying money
to get this kind of a workout.

Maybe I should put up a sigh advertising
 "organic workouts sessions"
. . .
I could get rich, LOL.

This is not a good picture,
but look at my swing blowing
in the wind.
If not for the thunder and lightening,
it might have been fun to let that
wind swing me around :)

I finished my little embroidery project.
It's a little bit wonky . . .
but that is how my things turn out.
They fit my imperfect personality :)

One of you ask if I used a pattern.
Yes for the middle, then I just kind
of started doing my own thing . . .
that explains the wonkiness.

Wishing you all a wonderful week.
Thank you for being my friend.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  2. Your embroidery piece is lovely, Connie. I think "a little bit wonky" is always a fabulous thing. Look at you raking all those pine cones; such a sweet photo♥

  3. I love that "organic workout sessions" lol...I think that would really attract the trendy people and yes, you'd make a fortune lol! Great photo of you! :)

  5. That's a lot of work! We have oaks and last year raked up 13 wheel barrows full.
    I like your wonky!

  6. We have a lot of pine trees on our property too. We don't get many pine cones but we sure as heck get a lot of pine needles! That is quite the wind you got! Love your embroidery project. My grandmother used to tell me that everything you make should have an "error" in it, because only God is perfect!

  7. I like your swing and I think I need one of those! Plenty of work outs to be had at my place. Currently shoveling out pea gravel for landscaping....lots more to go.

  8. I'm jealous of the fact you are wearing a jacket while you rake! It's so hot here. I don't even dare think of doing yard work this time of year. My husband gives the place a quick mowing and that's about it. I grew up in the Piney Woods of East Texas and I remember and miss raking pine straw and cones. We would make outlines of "houses" and play all day!

    Grace & Peace,
    Pam

  10. WOW, that swing is really movwing. That would have been some wild ride...lol
You sure do have a lot of pinecones to pick up. Do you ever save them and make things with them?

  12. Sure must be windy!!
Like you said, working outside is great exercise and I find it enjoyable as well.

  13. Pretty embroidery! Great picture of you. I pray for extra strength for you to keep up! Yard work is way healthier than a gym membership! Have a nice Sunday! Nancy

  15. I love your little wonky embroidery project! I sew and craft wonky projects, too! That swing in the wind sure would have been a wild one, for sure! At one of my kids' homes, they have A LOT of pinecomes that fall into their driveway from the neighbor's evergreen... they're a hazard – I've slipped more than once on them even though I've tried to avoid them! Blessings and continued prayers for you guys! ♥

  18. Hi Connie- A nice photo of you in the Garden. We use to have a Pine Tree - it was a 'Candle Pine' it got so big and took over our vegetable patch...beautiful tree though. I like your Embroidery - my Mum was good at it to- there is a lot of satisfaction there with needlework- a good way to spend the evenings. All the very best to you and Steve. Regards. KEV.

  19. thanks for stopping by my blog today.. i love your wonky project and also love the word wonky. makes me laugh. my hubby and i have often talked about how our neighbors pay someone to do yard work and then pay to go to the gym... good idea to make a business of letting them work out on your property...

  20. Wow I didn't realize you have pine trees and all those cones and needles! My sister who lives in "La Pine" Oregon has lots of big pine trees and she spends all summer raking up the pine needles! The large pine cones are so pretty and I always save some for Christmas projects, and then never make them! Pine cones with glitter on them look so pretty in a basket for Christmas or Fall! You are DEFINITELY getting your workout... and you could charge for those workouts and have someone else do all that work! I can't do much raking.. hurts my back too much. We have big Chinese Elm trees everywhere, so there are always little white bits about the size of my thumbnail all over our yard and flower beds, plus twigs and small branches that fall off in the wind. Lots of raking for sure! I love the picture of you in the yard! Do you burn all those pine needles? Oh.. also, your embroidery is such a work of art. Love it and hope it gets displayed in a place of honor! Hugs to you on this Sunday (and as always.... prayers).......Marilyn

  21. I love the picture of you hard at work. What a workout indeed. I think charging for an organic workout would be a great little money-maker. You could just be the instructor (inspector/overseer).
Sent you an email earlier when I was thinking of you. Love to you- xo Diana

  22. Oh that is a workout, that used to be one of my jobs when growing up, it was easier back then I think ;) Wow that swing was really blowing, we just drove through some high wind storms today, not fun. Your little embroidery piece turned out very nice.

  23. Your yard is inviting...Even with hard work!God bless!Hugs!

  24. Your project is just lovely!! We have 6 acres to keep up and we have tons of pine needles.... my husband rakes them up and uses them as mulch around our trees. In our area people also sell and buy them but I think he said those are longer needles then ours. I had to giggle at the swing picture as I was thinking of how it would be fun to sit on it and fly around like that, lol.... my childhood thoughts coming through I guess ;-) I hope you have a great week.

    blessings,
    Jill

  25. Happy Sunday evening Connie! I enjoyed seeing your raking photos. It looks like what I was doing at the lake this week too, complete with jacket and howling winds. :-) . I like your idea of charging for the workouts. You would be rich in a hurry. I always marvel at the money people spend on gyms when all they need to do is work around the house and yard.
I love your embroidery. I don't think it's wonky. I think it's perfect. A piece of folk art.
We're continuing to pray for you and your dear husband.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  26. I love the finished project. Being in your swing would have been a wild ride. That is a good idea to charge people for the workout...I wonder if I could get my yard mowed that way!

  27. Bless your heart Connie...I know what that yard work is like. I just spent two days pulling weeds, trimming trees, and cleaning out the pond. Had to let too many things go while dealing with Ted's cancer and transplant. He is having good days along with the bad ones. Praying for you and Steve. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  30. The first thing I noticed on your Fourth of July post was your beautiful yard. All your hard work has paid off cause it looks great! Your embroidery is lovely - you have a talent for that. I didn't realize your hair was that long. I also have long hair, but just cut it because of the hot Summers we have in California.
