Fresh Picked Flowers & Finished Quilt On The Bed
I'm having company for dinner tonight
so I went out into the garden
to picked a few bouquets to
place around the house.
Thirty-Five Plus Years In The Making . . .
and this quilt is finally on the bed.
I pieced the quilt top so many
years ago that I don't remember
the year exactly . . . only that
our daughter was young.
By the time I finished it and was
ready to start quilting,
she had out grown the pastel
Sunbonnet Susies.
So, I tucked it away . . .
until last winter when I got it
out and processed to hand-quilt it.
I offered it to her,
but she says, "it's not her style"
well, it's my style . . .
I've never out grown my love
of vintage style quilts.
So, I have a new quilt
to put on my bed and enjoy :)
til next time . . .
Have a glorious day,
don't miss the opportunity
to spread your love
with a smile or a hug.
This day only comes around
once in a lifetime.

Oh Connie, Sunbonnet Sue is my very favorite quilt! I think I got about four blocks made and never did get a quilt made form the blocks.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty, I am going to grow some flowers next year, I so miss having any.
Such a sweet quilt. Can one have too many quilts? I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteYour little bouquets are lovely. I don't know why I didn't sow zinnias this year.
That's such a sweet quilt. Good for you for finishing it after all these years. I have a few old projects like that, too, and I can't bear to discard them. Hopefully I'll get to them one of these days. Such a pretty bouquet of zinnias - they are cheerful flowers, I think.
ReplyDeleteHello my dear friend. Your flowers are lovely. You have such an artists eye for arranging them beautifully. And that Sunbonnet Sue quilt is completely adorable. I can't believe your daughter turned it down. Well, that's a good thing for you! It looks perfect on the bed. I like how you took the photo too with the fadded edges.
ReplyDeleteTake care Connie. I hope you enjoy your week. We sign the papers for the house closing tomorrow. I have very mixed feelings. We have lots of wonderful memories there.
Blessings,
Betsy
What a wonderful accomplishment Connie! I bet it feels SO GOOD! I love it so much.. and it looks beautiful on your bed with the picket fence headboard. Maybe some day your daughter will appreciate all the love you put into it, just for her. Your flowers are all so pretty and bright and cheery. Your photos are also so soft and pretty... I love the white edges that make each one look a little ethereal. Have a wonderful week! Hugs... Marilyn

Your quilt is so pretty and I'm so glad you've put it on the bed, rather than storing it away. Fresh flowers make a happy presence.
ReplyDeleteFresh flowers make a house look so inviting and cared for. The quilt is perfect for your bed. It's one of my favorite designs. My Grandmother made more than one of these quilts. I have a few blocks from an unfinished on in my hope chest. Enjoy your afternoon!

Your new "old" quilt is so beautiful, and looks just right on your bed! Congratulations, you have done a wonderful job with hand quilting it, 3o plus years later, what does it really matter? Fresh flowers always brighten up a home. Enjoy your visit with friends, always nice to have company isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI so like the backgrounds for each block. They make me want to do another SS. And each of your Sues is special, too. A really nice quilt. As always, your flowers are gorgeous, so summery --in a nice sort of way. (I added that caveat because our summer is not so nice right now-- it is frying everything.) Blessings on ya, dear.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your post. Better late than never regarding your quilt. So girly and looks lovely on your bed. Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers as they are long lasting. Be well and enjoy your friends♥
