Hartline School, Hartline, WA
A week ago I had the great pleasure
of touring this beautiful old schoolhouse.
They have filled it with donations and
are using the rooms for a thrift store.
The items sold are going toward saving the building.
I do hope they have great success.
It's a wonderful building.
They are filled with history.
Look at the artwork on this
old safe.
Great room for school plays,
recitals and graduation.
You can see why I wish them
success in preserving this
magnificent piece of history.
Before I close . . .
I want to show you some
flowers picked from the
garden.
It won't be long before
frost and waiting for
spring tulips to bloom
before having flowers
inside again :)
Wishing you all a very
sweet day.
May God bless you
and keep you safe.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
Your flowers are so beautiful! So cheerful! I agree that school is worth saving. I hope they raise abundant funds to do it.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope they do too, I know it means a great deal to the people that live in that area.
DeleteThank you for your comment on my flowers, I do enjoy bringing bouquets into the house.
There's an old school near us that someone bought, restored and turned into a nursing home. It's absolutely gorgeous. They kept all of the original woodwork and doors. In the main office there is a blackboard that all the seniors signed on their last day before the school closed for good. They sealed the board so that those names will be there forever. I hope they are able to save your old school.
ReplyDeleteI love what you said about the chalkboard, that was a brilliant idea for them to do.
DeleteYour flowers are beautiful. Ours are all gone except the hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteMine won't be around much longer all we need is one frost. I'll enjoy them all I can.
DeleteHi Connie, What a nice historical building. Glad you could visit it. Lovely having flowers in the house! Our temp. was suppose to get down to 39 last night. Tonight 42. Summer is definitely over! Nancy
ReplyDeleteWe've had a couple nights in high forties but mostly in the fifties. I like the cool nights but would like to stay in warm weather much longer. A girl can always hope.
DeleteHi, Connie!
ReplyDeleteSay, that building brings back lots of memories. I went to a school that looked a lot the one in your post, except mine was cement rather than brick. What a good idea to have the sale in the building they want to restore.
Once again, you made me drool over all your pretty garden flowers. I spent my morning trimming and pruning shrubs. Had to be careful with the camellias because they are budded out already. Winter is coming! I am sure I could speak for my fellow northern Californians when I say, "Bring it on!"
So good to read your post, Connie. Blessings!
I can see why you're looking forward to Winter. I'm so sorry for all your fires. It's been really bad here too, in our area no danger of fires but we've had a lot of smoke. The last two days have been clear and sunny and it feels so good. Wishing you rain and clear non-smokey skies.
DeleteThank you for sharing these wonderful photos. They don't design schools that way any more. Your flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey don't build them like this, even more reason for them to be restored and used.
DeleteWhat a beautiful post Connie. The flowers are gorgeous and the school reminds me so much of my old high school. I certainly hope it can be savevd and that many people visit and purchase things at the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteYou are in my prayers and in my heart my dear sister.
Blessings,
Betsy
Betsy, I am so appreciative of all your prayers thank you so very much. Give your hubby a big hug I'm so sorry for his loss. God bless you both.
DeleteHi Connie- It is great to hear from you once again- I think of you and wonder how your going. Yes, agree it is worth saving the old school- lots of history there. Love your Flowers from the Garden - very nice touch to your lovely Cottage. Rain here to-day for Spring and cool. Best Wishes. KEV. (Sydney-Australia).
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit it is always good hearing from you. Enjoy your wonderful spring weather.
DeleteI do hope that such a wonderful building can be preserved, it is local history really.
ReplyDeleteI wish more people understood the value of preserving history.
DeleteIt is indeed a beautiful old building, I can see why it is so loved. Praying that it will be saved.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, thank you these folks will truly appreciate it.
DeleteHi my sweet friend. Connie, I loved all your bouquets. I have enjoyed my daughter's sunflowers so much. She has brought me some and even sent pictures. I hope your school can be saved too. Maybe it could be a civic center of sorts. My old grade school, even my daughters went there, is now a church and I really love that. Blessings to you, stay safe. Love the picture of you and your Steve near the flowers. :) xoox, love you, Susie
ReplyDeleteSusie it is always so good to hear from you. Thank you for your blogging friendship.
DeleteGlad to hear they are trying to save the old school.
ReplyDeleteWe've already had a couple of frosty mornings but just light ones and the flowers are still blooming.
Too soon cold weather will be on us,frosty mornings, gloves, hats and sweaters, I'm not sure if I'm ready.
DeleteThis does look like a great old building. I'm always happy to hear about buildings being restored rather than torn down,
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love old buildings.
DeleteI always feel sad when another old building is torn down, usually replaced with something rather unattractive.
ReplyDeleteI hope that school can be saved.
Your Zinnias and Roses are lovely.
Happy Autumn to you.
Oh what a reminder . . . I wasn't really paying attention to the date. I guess Autumn is on us. Get out your sweaters and hats.
DeleteThis high school looks like the one I attended. Hope it can be repurposed. Your flowers are beautiful! Enjoy the fall and be well♥
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope so too and thank you for the comment on my flowers, I do enjoy them :)
DeleteI hope they save it too. I hate seeing old buildings torn down.
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers! I'm sad to see them coming to an end...
Cold weather is just around the corner . . . I am not looking forward to the late fall and winter months. They always bring me down and have for years. I'm afraid this year will be a hard one to get through.
DeleteI hope they can save the school, my nephews church bought the old school building in his town for their church, it worked out great for them, the old gym is now the sanctuary. Glad you are still able to enjoy your flowers, we have a few tiger lillies that are hanging on, everything else has gone.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely Autumn to come!
Oh that brick building brings back alot of memories for me! I went to grade school in one in Portland, OR way back in 1952, 53 and 54... I wonder if it is still there! My youngest son also went to grade school in a building that could be the one you showed's twin! It is in Washougal, WA and I think it is still there.. those stairs and the hallways, photos of pass teachers, etc.... what memories! I surely hope they can save this building and keep it in use. I have a few flowers still blooming but not many, and I don't bring any into the house. I do have some gorgeous peach roses, but I always hate to cut them off the bush! We're having some cold nights too, like you.. and finally had a big rain storm on Friday that lasted about 20 minutes and cleared out all the smoke! So glad for that. I see that your Steve is also enjoying your lovely flowers too... I hope they keep blooming for a few more weeks! Hugs and blessings to you......Marilyn
ReplyDeleteIt was cool here this morning, which is a nice break from the heat but I still remain a summer person.
ReplyDeleteI do hope they save the school, just breaks my heart to see the old building's destroyed
Hey,Connie, I love old school and the real slate chalkboards, lovely flowers..may God Bless you sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great building with a lot of memories inside.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are pretty.
Happy Autumn Connie.

Such an amazing slice of history! I hope the building is saved.
ReplyDeleteI hope that school building can be saved!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Makes me sad that they won't be around much longer. I just noticed your comment to Mari above and see you're like me where you don't like late fall and winter. I agree that they're depressing months. I know this year will be extra hard for you, too.
xoxo
Beautiful zinnias, Connie. They are blooming well in my garden, too. The old school looks like a wonderful building to preserve. So much history. I'm sure it could be put to good use. Keep smiling!
