Autumn Baking

 What is it about

this time of the year?

My appetite runs toward

sweets, as well as,

hardy soups and stews.

Today I'm talking about

"Sweets"

And it all started with the

butternut squash in my garden :)

I saw this thing on Pinterest

that stated . . .

"If you ever bake a

Butternut Squash Pie

you'll never go back to pumpkin."

I was up to the challenge.

So, I roasted and then

pureed my squash.

This is a photo of Steve from

last Autumn . . . driving

our squash from the garden :)

Here's my pie . . .

Oh so good!

If I didn't know, I would not

be able to tell it from pumpkin.

A nice wallop of

whipped cream

&

Yum!!!

I didn't stop with this pie.

Oh no, once the sweet bug bit

I was off and running:)

Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

Into the oven.

And out of the oven.

Then I peeled an apple

the other night and it had

lost the crisp factor.

So another pie was born :)

Into the oven.

And out of the oven.

I'd better be careful

or my bottom will start

doing the holiday spread . . .

if you know what I mean.

Wishing you all a lovely day

&

Happy Baking!

God Bless You,

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  2. Oh yum. You now have me craving something sweet. I would never have thought to use a squash to make a pie but then why not.

  3. If you keep baking stuff this good, you will not be able to "social distance". Your home will be full of people, some you may not even know. They will just follow the aroma to your house.

  4. You have been busy in the kitchen! I haven't had a pineapple upside down cake in years... and now I have a craving!

  6. My mother always grew butternut squash and made "pumpkin" pie from them, and I followed along in her path. I also like to make sweet potato pie! Pumpkin is good but butternut and sweet tater pies wear the crown!

  12. Oh my! All of those sweets look so delicious. I've gained weight with being inside so much this year. That's not a good thing. That was a lot of squash in that trailer wasn't it? Have you used it all?
    Blessings and hugs,

I made a sweet potato pie and it also could have passed as pumpkin, its a matter of fact a few here don't like sweet potatoes and never knew what they were eating and liking lol. Never made a pineapple upside down cake. Looks delicious I just might bake one up. Enjoy your baked bounty! Lisa @Sweet Tea N' Salty Air

  23. Oh wow I hadn't heard of pie from squash, I bet my hubby would like that. I know what you mean about this time of year, not sure if it is the cool weather and we don't mind the oven on ;) I haven't had a pineapple upside down cake since I can remember, now you have my mouth watering!

  24. Oh, Autumn baking, there's nothing like it. Your desserts look scrumptious, especially the butternut squash pie. It's even more special that you used some of the butternut squash from your garden.

I hope you have happy and healthy November days, Connie.

  26. Connie, I'm on my way over!! Get out the bibs!!
How wonderful - a warm kitchen full of the smell of baking, all followed, of course, by the eating. Thanks for this. And I like how your husband drives the squash from the garden.

  28. Oh my Connie! My mouth is watering! I've never had sweet potato pie but it looks and sounds so good... because of course I LOVE pumpkin pie (which whipped cream of course). And the cake and apple pie... I can almost smell them! I love the picture of your Steve hauling the gourds from the garden. Such wonderful memories. I've been baking more lately too.... when it's cold outside, I want to bake inside! Have made pumpkin/chocolate chip muffins (yum!), choc. chip cookies, two different cakes... all gluten free of course, but you'd never know they are gluten free. Today I'm going to make some cheesecake bars. And yes.. I've gained weight during these last months of staying in more.. and I already have the holiday spread. Darn it! I just can't stay away from those sweets! Sending love... Marilyn

  29. Oh, MY ! Connie ! You have me salivating, practically ! I'm wanting that Pineapple Upside Down Cake........it's one of my favorites and I bake mine in an iron skillet most times. Also, I like the looks of the crust on that apple pie. Looks alot less fussy than rolling, trimming and fancifying ! Thanks for the ideas......thanks a TON ! lol !

  32. Judging from the "oh, my's" in the comments, a lot of us might be working on a sweet tooth. lol Lately, I seem to be collecting sweet recipes, too. I love the deep rich color of your butternut pie. Might a recipe be coming? With such beautiful cakes and pies, you could open Elaine's Tea Shoppe. What fun that would be to visit you in your very own Shoppe!
