Old Cupboard Painted Once Again

See the yellow cupboard with the TV

in it . . . well, in this post you will

see it repurposed and moved from

the Art Barn to the house.

You can barely see it

but between those two chairs

there it stands painted white.

My life is full of changes,

but isn't it that way in

all of our lives?
So many changes and not always
what we want or expect.

I brought it into the house
and painted it the same
light grey as the walls.
Now it stands in the dining room
filled with homemade quilts.

That's my post for today . . .
Except, that I would like to say:
Today is election day here in the USA
I hope everyone voted.
Of course I want my man to win,
but either way tomorrow is going to be
a day of trouble . . .
the whole world has seen the destruction
in our nation.
Just remember that however the
election turns out . . .
God is in control!
This old hymn brings me peace:
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow
strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
God bless you,
Connie :)

  1. How wonderful your cabinet looks with the new color paint and then filled with all those wonderful homemade quilts. A joy to look at.

  2. That looks awesome with all your quilts in it. Your home always looks so cozy and inviting.

    1. Yes, the election today has been known by our God long before this day. And we know from His word that sometimes He gives a people what they "want" even though He knows it is not the best for them.
Your cabinet looks lovely with all your handmade quilts folded inside.

  3. The cupboard and the pretty quilts really stand out now. Glad you brought it inside. It looks so nice.

  4. What a wonderful collection of quilts you have! The cabinet is perfect for them. I love that old hymn!

  5. Thank you for these encouraging words, Connie. I am a nervous mess so I am in here reading blogs and trying to not be so anxious. I will follow your lead and do my journal update I wait.....

  6. Cabinet looks great with all the quilts. Nice job. Love that hymn.

  7. What a beautiful way to display your quilts. You have a really nice collection and they look nice in their new home.

  8. What a great idea to repaint that cupboard and put your quilts in there! Such a colourful addition to your dining area! You have such a warm and welcoming home!

  9. You totally transformed the cupboard and now it looks like it belongs right there in the dining room filled with the beautiful hand-made quilts.

  10. Your home always looks so inviting and cheerful Connie. I love how you repurposed that cabinet to hold the beautiful quilts. The quilts are so full of color and happiness and the gray cabinet is perfect for them.
Thank you for the words to the old hymn. I'm sitting here watching the results of the election come in and know that no matter what happens, there will be trouble. How sad is that? I'm so glad that my hope is not in a president or other things of this world, but in God and the love He has for me. None of this surprises Him and sometimes He gives us what we deserve, not what we want. And sometimes we get what we want and it's definitely not what is best for us.

  11. I had never heard that hymn before. I have written it down and will add it to my prayer journalling. I love the "new cupboard", you are very talented. Your motivation inspires me. Love those quilts too.

  12. Hello Connie- Well done there on re-purposing your Cabinet from the Barn. - looks fantastic re-painted and with all your lovely colorful Quilts. Yes, I've been made aware of the US Presidential Elections since all our TV stations have been having rolling coverage...To-nights message was 'It is too close to call' with the final result will take awhile. I'm hoping that there won't be any civil trouble or unrest after the election. Stay well there Connie- Best Wishes. KEV.

  13. How pretty it all is! Your quilts are just lovely.
    Blessings, Linda

  14. What a wonderful way to display all your beautiful quilts! I will have to show this post to my mom. She's been trying to figure out a way to display her quilts, too.

  15. It looks beautiful with all your quilts in it. I do the same thing in our home. I will move things from one room to another and sometimes I do paint them to give them a new look.

  16. How wonderful to repurpose your cupboard and now use it for storing your quilts. Such a great idea and it looks so nice and homely.

  17. Hi Connie, Your cupboard shows the quilts like a wonderful piece of art. I love it. I have a table on the porch that has many layers of paint on it...that's how I decorate outside. Just paint it !!!! Hope you are doing well. I will read the posts I have missed. Blessings to you sweet friend, love you, xoxo, Susie

  18. The cabinet looks wonderful with those treasured quilts in it.
I too voted and prayed. Still praying! I was just listening to that old hymn last night.

  19. How nice to have a pretty place to put your quilts and be able to see them all and enjoy them. What a great idea! Enjoy your evening!

  20. Hi Connie, I love the cupboard painted light gray with your lovely quilts on the shelves! Yes, I voted. If my man does not win I will be disappointed but like you know that God is in control. Hugs,Nancy

  21. Changing the color, the location and adding all your wonderful quilts is a perfect choice.

  22. What a great display piece for your beautiful quilts! I am so thankful God is in control, especially during times like these. :)

  23. I have been praying that the right man to lead your country will be the one who wins your election. God knows what He is doing, even if sometimes we wonder about it :)
I am happy to have found your blog Connie, and I love the picture of you and your hubby - it reminded me very much of myself and my hubby (we had 45 wonderful years together). Take care and stay safe, Mxx

  24. Hi Connie! How cute! The quilts look so good in the freshly painted cupboard. We have heartache at outcomes in our state. I love the song you mention. Such comfort.

  25. Such a strange year all around, waiting to hear the results after these many days, God knows what's ahead and I am thankful for that. I love your repurposing you have done, such a great idea and will be so nice to have the quilts on display like that, I have mine laying all over the house :) But I don't have nearly as many as you do.

  26. How wonderful that cupboard looks. Those quilts look so warm and snuggly. The words in that song are beautiful aren't they.

  27. The cupboard looks very nice Connie! :)

  28. What a cute little white cupboard, and so useful for so many things. I always love to see the charming rooms in your house, Connie.

  29. Nothing prettier than a white or light gray cupboard full of handmade quilts! It looks wonderful! I missed this post somehow.. it went into my "spam" folder and I don't check it very often! I wish so much I could get myself to paint some of my furniture. I just don't know where to do it as no room in our garage and hate to stink up the house with paint fumes! I would love some of my furniture to be white. I might get brave one of these days and try it first on an old wood dresser that is in our bedroom.. I may paint it white and to the drawers pink! I saw that in a photo in a magazine and it just struck me as so pretty! We're having some windy weather here and even some rain. We need it! Take care.. hugs... Marilyn
