June is coming to an end . . .
these days will never come again . . .
treasure them!
These are my two sidekicks.
I do enjoy them.
Beulah loves the water.
This is a bad photo . . .
she moves too quickly for my
phone camera, but she has her head
buried in the sprinkler :)
If I say the word bath,
she'll jump in the tub
sometimes faster than
I can remove the bath-mat.
So today I bought her this . . .
I thought she would jump
right in . . .
but she's timid and testing the waters.
I've shown you photos of my
south garden, the one behind
Beulah in this shot.
This is part of the west garden.
The squash are starting to put
fruit on their vines
and I had my first zucchini
this week.
I picked these this morning,
all washed and sliced to make
dinner and easy task.
Zucchini, lettuce & green onion
all from the garden.
Last week I invited a girlfriend
over and I took a frozen cheese pizza
and added sauteed green onions
and fennel from the garden
and then topped with Parmesan cheese
before baking.
It was so yummy!
Of course I am always bringing
in flowers from the garden . . .
one of my favorite joys of summer.
I managed a little time out in the Art Barn.
Mostly cleaning and organizing,
but I did manage a bit of sewing.
My greenhouse needs a new roof.
I lost half of it in a wind storm
at the end of winter.
This was a sign that I made a few years ago,
I had it hanging in the greenhouse
but bought it inside to a bedroom.
Well, that's about it . . .
the grapes are still very green
as well as the blackberries . . .
but it won't be long :)
I'm still working on hand-quilting
this quilt that I started
almost two years ago.
One more side of the boarder to do.
I use a piece of felt to quilt a
perfect circle. It works great!
Our temperatures are suppose to
reach 110 to 114 in the next few days.
🌻🌄🌻🌄🌻
Hot for people and animals
but great for tomatoes.
🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
See, there is a sunny side to everything :)
God bless you all.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
This year sure is going by fast. It's hard to believe that June is almost over. Your sidekicks are such cuties. I didn't realize Beulah was so much bigger than Butchy.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks fabulous. What a joy to be able to go out and pick fresh vegetables.
6 months ago when I brought Beulah home she was a quarter of the size of Butch. I cannot believe how much she's grown.
DeleteYou have been very busy. Our Mandy did not like the water at all until she got older and she loved her baths. We are just getting blossoms on our zucchini and other veggies. Things are growing slower this year. I cannot believe June is almost over.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a mystery with my tomato plants this year. One row is growing and doing beautifully and another row is only about a foot tall and not growing at all. I fertilize them the same and I watered them the same, it's truly a mystery.
DeleteI hate to see June coming to an end. It goes too quick!
ReplyDeleteCute pics of the dogs, and the garden is looking so good!
It's cool here and has been raining like crazy. It's supposed to rain for the next week...
Wouldn't it be nice if we could trade a few of our days (weather) with each other. Then we could have hot or raining every other day :)
DeleteI just love the way you make your house a home and even your gardens have your special touch. I just love Beulah. Chloe was terrified of water. I wish she would have like to play in the little pool we had.
ReplyDeleteWe heard about the terrible high heat that is on it's way to the Washington/Oregon area. We had 106 with high humidity one day last week that set a record but it only lasted one day. It sounds like you guys are going to have it for awhile. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Keep that garden watered!!!
Take care my dear friend.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
At least our hot is a dry heat. How are you doing getting use to the humidity again?
DeleteWhat a lovely garden! Your blog is always so beautiful. I hope you get some rain and reduced temperatures soon.
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice, but our temps are suppose to start climbing all through next week. Then again the weatherman is not always correct :)
DeleteLove your garden sign :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been busy - your garden is looking great. Enjoy your summer weather :) xx
I put miracle grow on my tomatoes last night, so that and these hot temperatures should make them take off and grow :)
DeleteConnie, you are a WONDEWR! So inspiring. Your garden is beautiful AND productivce. Your little buddies are lovely.I am allergic to my cat.Everyone says "Get riud of the cat..", BUT how can I? She's my "baby" and costing me a packet in anti allergy injections, but when she's on my lap purring and snuggling..Well...worth every injection! haha. My sinus and asthma issues have calmed down a lot as well.Stay happy and productive. I love reading about what you do.
ReplyDeleteYour post is jam-packed with interesting photos and information! What gardens you have! They are really taking off. My dog will put her face right in the Rainbird watering jets and play but she gets scared to get in the baby pool we got her, too. It's funny how that works! B & B are sure cute sidekicks.
ReplyDeleteConnie, you never stop! You do so much in your garden, and isnt it lovely to eat a meal that you have grown! Your flowers look so very pretty.
ReplyDeleteConnie, You are a hard working lady. The garden looks so pretty, as do the flowers and piles of materials. With those kind of temperatures, you may join the dogs in the pool. I hope you can find someone to help with the roof. I just had a friend come pick up all those glass doors and most of the windows, that Ted and I had gathered to make a green house. I was thankful for that help. Stay safe and enjoy this summer...I agree June has gone to fast. Blessings, xoxo, love you friend, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love the bright cheery colors in your quilts! I know they bring joy to you and others! And your garden is looking beautiful! Florida is not as hot...come on down! heehee! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that Beulah loves the water so much, that sure makes bath time easier. I say it won't be long and she will be taking a dip in that pool :)
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks fabulous, it is always exciting each year when you can have those first goodies from the garden, you know I didn't know that tomatoes like it hot. We had those hot temps too but now it is more normal other than the humidity is terribly high. We are getting rain too but I am thankful for that.
Your flowers all lined up on the table is gorgeous, so great to bring some in to enjoy!
I bet it feels good to be getting that quilt done too, such pretty hand quilting you are doing on it.
Yes I agree that summer is going quickly and we need to enjoy and be thankful for every moment!
As someone else said, you're a wonder! I love seeing everything you're doing and growing. Such fun! Glad you had some girlfriend time. I'm sure it was a balm to your soul. Your pups are precious! Love the quilt you're working on! Happy Saturday, dear Connie!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! :) Oh your gardens are enviable!!! Your "sidekicks" are so cute. I need to get a small pool for the dogs, especially Charlie. A husky in summer is not a happy one! Lovely sewing projects too.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness time is just flying by. What a joy to visit your blog and admire those gorgeous dogs, they are a joy. The garden is looking good and I fell in love with the gorgeous quilt, the fabrics are a delight.
ReplyDeleteTry to stay cool, maybe the dogs will share their pool with you. Love, that you are hand quilting, how precious that quilt will be.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post Connie! Your garden looks so beautiful! I love your little side kicks they sure are a lot of company! What a beautiful quilt you are so talented. Hugs sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteYou're 'sidekicks' are looking good and I'm sure great company for you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful material!
Garden looking fantastic. My little garden is just starting to get a couple of zucchini, an eggplant or two and some green peppers. Will be a while yet before we will be eating anything.
Sure is HOT down by you. We are having cool sunny days in the 60's and 70's.
I always love seeing photos of your lovely home and garden. And oh, those gorgeous dogs! Take care, Jenny
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how busy you are in the summer with your gardens and pups! It always amazes me to see all the work you do. I'm so impressed by your gardens! With that extreme heat you're having, I think you'd better get in the dog's pool, not them! Just don your bathing suit and go lay down in the cool water. I love that row of flowers in the glass bottles. Absolutely beautiful. And how wonderful to have a friend over for supper. Your pizza looks so good.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Hi! Connie, Oh, my goodness. Temps of 110 to 114! I thought our high 80's and and 90 were bad. You are such a great gardener and grow and preserve so much. I love how you bring the flowers in the house. Hubby bought me a beautiful rose but I hardly have time to change the water. We have had tornado warnings a couple of times but thankfully nothing touched down here. Your dogs look so well behaved. My puppy bites me all the time and I am discouraged. I know puppies bite but she gets bored so easily. A friend over and your delicious looking pizza sounds so good. It is good to see you are back out in your Art Barn. What a lovely building you have. I am sorry about your Greenhouse roof. Question about your circle to quilt around. What are the notches for? I had a biopsy of a spot on my forehead and wouldn't you know it, that it is cancer so that will be taken off first part of August. One vein appointment done and three more to go and one broken tooth to pull yet. Have a wonderful week-end. Nancy
ReplyDeleteYour gardens are so organized and neat; not a weed in sight. Although with the tremendous heat maybe the weeds gave up. The quilt is coming along beautifully and you're almost done!! I suppose when the temperature rises above 90 or so you have to stay inside and sew. We are breaking records with our heat wave here on the B.C. coast. Every evening I go out and water the most vulnerable perennials and hope for the best for the others. If this is our new norm I'll have to make some changes in the future.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get help fixing the greenhouse roof. That must have been some wind!
Take care and stay as cool as possible. (((hugs)))
Hi Connie- You have been busy- your gardens look terrific and I do like your cut Flowers on display. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteWas so nice to see this post Connie! Yes June is almost gone and where did it go? Where did May go for that matter? I love your raised beds in your gardens.. I would love that here and it's on my wish list. Was hoping for some this year so we could grow some of our own food but not to be I guess. time has just slipped by.. and I had my hand surgery, now hubby going to have his catarac surgery soon and then I need my other hand "done" for the carpel tunnel as it is really bad. Is preventing me from doing much gardening, other than getting some flowers planted in pots. I planted a few lemon cukes but they were puny and hardly doing anything right now. They were pretty far gone when I got them for free! Two may survive. We have 109 right now (Sunday) and like you, will get up to 114 probably. .then I hope after Tuesday, things will start "cooling off" down to 104 or so! Funny how our perspectives change. Now... 100 is "cool"!! I love your flowers in the little jars.. and your "kids" are darling, and glad they have each other to play with. I worry about our kitties in this heat. We bring them in the house where it's cool, but they want out after 10 minutes! I keep an eye on them.. they lay under our big lilac bush in the shade and love it when the dirt is damp from watering. Stay cool.. and don't go outside and work in this heat! Hugs... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteYou always grow the very best veggies! Your pup kids are full of fun and they like water, my two hear the word bath and they hide lol. Enjoy your gardening and stay cool. Lisa @Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
ReplyDeleteMy tomatoes are loving this heat, but I am not. It's very unusual for us. I agree with you about picking flowers from the garden. It's one of summer's pleasures. Stay cool, Connie!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! Your dogs are so cute! I hope they decide the paddling pool is fun!
