Today I want to share a
very simple and very inexpensive,
thing that I found,
that makes my life much easier.
Several years ago while
opening a jar with a
round grippy circle of rubber
that I picked up at the county Fair,
I got the thought of why not use
a pair of grippy garden gloves.
So the next time I visited
the dollar store I picked up
this pair of pretty pink floral
garden gloves.
Now these gloves don't have
as much grip as some of the nicer
ones you buy in garden shops,
but they do have enough.
Opening jars has become so much easier.
I do have arthritis in my hands
and sometimes jars are just
really very hard to open.
Plus the nice thing about gloves
is that you're not only gripping around
the lid when you turn it but
you're also gripping the jar
and keeping it from moving as well.
Two hands with the ability to grip
are much better than only one.
These gloves are pretty and they work wonderfully.

So that's my post today.
If you have trouble opening tight jars
and want a pretty solution,
pick up a pair of pretty garden gloves.
Put them in a kitchen drawer
and use them for nothing but opening jars.
They will last for many many years,
much longer than they last
out doing garden work 😊

I do hope that you all
have a lovely week.
God Bless You,
your blogging sister,
Connie :)

Connie! You are so smart! That's a great solution, and as you said - a pretty one too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you give it a try :)
DeleteWhat a great idea!!! And so much prettier!

DeleteWhat a super idea!! I'm planning a trip to a Dollar store tomorrow and I;ll see if they have such. Meanwhile I have a little sign that says Please Open. I prop it up on the kitchen counter with whatever jar I can't open. Sooner or later someone walks by and opens it. With grippy gloves I'll hopefully be able to do that myself.
ReplyDeleteThey make a real difference and the fact that they grip the jar as well as the lid is very helpful.
DeleteThis is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you 🧤🌿🌱🧤
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I have arthritis in my right hand (I'm right-handed) and use a round grippy thing (don't remember where I got it) that opens jar lids.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be surprised at how well this works.
DeleteWow what a great idea. I'm going to get myself a pair. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, I hope find them as a better way to open jars, like I do.
DeleteVery clever idea and the gloves are pretty
ReplyDeleteFind a pretty pair that matches your kitchen ❤️
DeleteWonderful idea! And they are so pretty too! I cut a couple of squares of the rubber stuff that you put under throw rugs to keep them from slipping. I keep them in my kitchen drawer for opening jars, and also some in my bathroom medicine cabinet for opening pill bottles. But I like the looks of your rubber gardening gloves better!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to find something that's pretty and that also gets the job done and done well 🥰
DeleteThis is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you . . . It does work very well ☺️
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea Connie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, it works great and it's a pretty way to get the job done 🥰
DeleteThat's a fantastic idea. I also have those round rubber things that don't work all that well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
These are a lot prettier than those and if yours are like mine, then have a advertisement printed on them.
DeleteWhat a good idea! You are so clever.
DeleteThank you 😊
DeleteThat's a wonderful solution to tight jar lids, Connie! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSimple but very effective ☺️
DeleteYou are SO smart Connie! I had a grippy round thing but lost it. The gloves are much better than me hitting the jar lid on the side of my kitchern counter, to loosen it (and hoping I don't break the jar!). 2nd solution was to run it under hot water. The gloves are a darling idea.. next trip to the DT I'll look for some. I keep a DT list on my fridge so I can remember what to get when I go! Hope you are having a nice week! xoxoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to help, pick a pretty pair 🥰
DeleteHey Connie! I agree with everyone else...that is such a good idea. I need a pair in a kitchen drawer too. I just looked back at that quilt you just finished. Wow!! It is amazing. It looks so complicated. No wonder you had to undo a few stitches. It is simply beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, that was sweet of you to say. 🪡🧵
DeleteI had bought a piece of the grippy stuff to put in your drawers and cut a chunk, that worked for a little while but some jars were too hard, so hubby bought me a jar opener but I think I will give this a try because like you said it would be nice to have grip on the jar too, and they are pretty too :)
ReplyDeleteYes, when you can hold the jar firmly so that it doesn't slip while you're twisting the lid it allows you more tork. It works great!
