Sing Me A Love Song

I made these simple little decorations, 

just in time for Valentine’s Day.   

One of the things I like to look for in thrift stores is old sheet music.  

 I have a good friend that also collects 

old sheet music.  Mine is for cutting up and using in crafts of all kinds.  She collects it to add to her music room collection.  

 To her I’m committing a crime to cut them up . . . then after she sees what I've done with it, she’s the first one to beg for whatever I’ve made.  These are very easy to make . . .

Take two sheets of music and cut them into a heart shape.  Cut them layered on top of one another so they line up perfectly.  Then using a medium to large stitch sew them together leaving the bottom open.  Old paper is very fragile so sew slowly and be careful not to tear. Take an ink pad or sponge and paint 

and stain them. 

Now it's time to recycle 

a plastic grocery sack.

Just ease it into the heart using a pen or pencil (eraser side, to not poke a hole in the paper).  When you have it evenly where you want it, take a couple of small pieces of double sticky tape and seal the heart closed.  Then take it back to the sewing machine and sew it closed.  The tape will hold it nicely in place while you sew (it's harder to handle without 

taping it first).

Notice the photo at the top of this post and the heart on the right.  I made it first and when I varnished it, the ink jet ran.  So with the second heart I used this acrylic sealer, problem solved.

Varnish.  When it's dry punch holes for wire 

or string.  In the heart (below) I just stapled the ribbon on and then covered over the staple with tiny ribbon roses.

 This craft was not only enjoyable 

but very simple.

I think it would be a great Sunday school 
or Bible school project and then use a verse about Christ's love for the banner.
