Welcome Spring Door Hanger

Hello Springtime, Oh how we've missed you!
The other day I woke up to see that we had a spring wind storm during the night.  When I went out to clean up the branches that fell from my poplar trees, I came up with the idea to use them in a new door hanging.
This was my backyard after the storm.
I took my garden tools and cut a few small pieces from the limbs to use in my craft.

First I took "Royal Coat" and decoupaged this board, that I cut in my husbands shop
and also did three small plastic eggs.

Next came painting.  We all know that, that is the fun part of the project.  After painting I glued it all together and added a little moss.  Now my door can go from winter to spring.  Some of you may remember the recycled board that I used in making my Valentine door hanging, well this is still scraps from that same board, and I still have more of it left.  I'll need to start thinking up another project for the rest.

I hope you all enjoyed the process
as much as I did.
Just another easy breezy craft.
Have a Great Day!

Connie

  2. Hi Connie! I am so behind on checking in with my blogging friends! First, if you do make it to New Mexico, especially the Santa Fe area, we should get together!!!! I can understand your friend's reluctance about the state. The southern is desert looking but the northern is fantastic. Where I live is a mile high so we are in the mountains and have snow. Not too many people think of the state in those terms. The old adobe is about 12 miles from where I live. Believe it or not, there was another old house on that street that I fell in love with. It had dormer windows and was falling apart, but the house spoke volumes. Someone bought the land and tore down the house - a major bummer. I wish I would have taken photos of it.

In the nest week or so I'm going to post more photos of that drive. Today I'm going to post about a gallery I found in Abiquiu - Georgia O'Keefe country.

I love your spring door hanger. Isn't it amazing what you can do with recycle items. I bought some shutters at the thrift store for $1 yesterday. I'm hoping to use them as part of my display when I sell at a crafts fair.

    Hugs,
    Kay

    1. Thanks Ruth, You know what they said, "If you have lemons make lemonade" . . . well, when you have branches. Just the other night we were watching, Restaurant Impossible on TV, their designer made a huge shade for a light fixture from branches. It was beautiful. There is so much stuff around us that we throw away . . . That's what I love about blogging . . . is all the idea sharing. You have a great week too. Connie

    1. Thanks for the compliment on the door hanging, it was fun. As for WW, it's the best. I think the fact that it has taken a year of weighting, journaling, measuring, and calculating to get this weight off . . . it was the exact learning process that will help me keep it off. I do realize when I'm standing in line at the grocery store and the lady in front of me has a cheesecake that is driving me crazy . . . that I have to engage my brain over my appetite. It will be a challenge, but I'm up for it. We (myself, you and your daughter) will have to be strong, we can keep it off! Your friend, Connie
