Yard Sale Finds and Re-Purposing

Last Saturday I found this old 1950's sewing machine
at a neighborhood yard sale for $15.00

This is what it looked like when
I purchased it.
There is a sewing machine inside,
that does not work.
I removed it and dropped it off at the sewing machine repair man,
and will wait on his estimate to see whether it is worth fixing.
Whether or not, I really like this cabinet and the counter space
and storage that it will provide in my little studio.

Here is some of the bonus items
that were in the drawers.
I found lots of vintage buttons,
some wooden spools, packages of needles,
and rick-rack, all sorts of cool things.

Here you'll see some vintage
embroidery transfers.
One of the neatest things that I found about these items
is the original prices.

Here I am out in Steve's woodworking shop, sanding away.

It turned out pretty nice,
don't you think?

This is a circle of plywood that I found
going through Steve's woodworking shop scrap pile.
I think it was leftover from his Green Egg Table, check it out at
http://woodworkinandgoodeats.blogspot.com
All I did was paint it and put it on top of an overturned flower pot,
to add an extra outdoor table to our patio.

Here's another view of the table.
All that is missing is you and I
relaxing with a cool glass of lemonade.
Wish you were here!

    1. Hello Astrid, I try real hard to be handy at many things, I have this little motto, "If someone else can do it, I can darn well give it a try". A lot of the time, if you just have a go at something, you surprise yourself at just what you can do. Thank you for the sweet visit, Connie :)

    1. Hi Lisa, I'm happy that you like my backyard. It is very small, but also very inviting and comfortable. I love hens and chickens, they remind me of my mother, they were one of her favorites. Therefore; planting them in my yard, in a small way, it just keeps her around. I'm delighted you stopped by, Connie :)

    1. Yes, Steve is pretty proud of his work space. He doesn't get as much time as he would like out there, but after he retires I'm sure that's where I'll find him, a lot of the time.
I did luck-out with all those little treasures in the drawers . . . pretty cool. Have a great week, and thanks so much for stopping by, Connie

    1. Good Morning Bron, I received a call yesterday afternoon and the machine is fixed, oiled and cleaned and running like new. I'm planning on going into town on Tuesday, so I can pick it up and put it back into it's new painted cabinet. Oh, and for only $60. So with the cabinet and the machine all repaired, I have a $75 investment . . . I think that was a real deal. It just goes to show that the old saying, "one man's junk is another man's treasure", still runs true. Happy Mother's Day! Connie :)
