Now that the weather is so cold and being outside freezes me to the bone
. . .
I find that I am enjoying doodling in my journal.
As you can see from the photo below . . .
I cut several pages into a butterfly shape.
Then I drew my background and proceeded to put many different
and brightly colored butterflies on the pages.
It was really a lot of fun . . .
This art journal is like my grown-up coloring book . . .
and every bit as enjoyable as those childhood days of coloring.
Never - Never - Never
loose the little girl that lives deep inside you.
Thanks for stopping in . .
I hope that you enjoyed your visit.
I always enjoy having you here . .
I just wish I could serve up some tea and cake and that we could have a proper visit.
Please leave a comment . . .
I read every one :)
Your blogging sister, Connie
Congratulations Kay, from 505 Whimsy
Girl.
Kay is the winner of the Give-Away.
(see details on January 1st, post)
My Connie, how beautiful and oh, so creative! Clearly, the little girl in you is steering you in the right direction :-) I think every single person living in the Pacific Northwest should have one of these journals/albums on their desk! Happy New Year! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteHi there, I agree that we should all start journals . . . write about the happy events . . . draw and color and paint and doodle :) make your journals so full of life and love that when you open them you feel joy. Then one day when you are gone from this world and a child or grandchild happens to come across one of them, they will know that life can be light and filled with simple pleasures.
DeleteHave a marvelous day :)
Your blogging sister, Connie
Dear Connie you never cease to amaze me. You are so talented and I'm very envious of your wonderful ideas and beautifully coloured journal entries. If I wasn't so tied up with my studying I would love to have a go. I think I told you that my husband John would like to start a journal but hasn't quite got there yet although he may be retiring soon. He has all the equipment, the colouring pencils, paints, brushes etc so I think I might give myself a day off and have a dabble! Thank you for showing us your artwork.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Hi Patrica, Oh, I do hope that John starts journaling . . . it is a wonderful way to share your life with those that follow you down life's path. A special place to get lost in and doodle away the stress of the day :)
DeleteI hope that he will let you share some of his pages on your blog, or even start his own blog (let me know, I would love to follow his artful journey).
Have a day filled with joy.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

Evening Connie~ I wish I could be there having some hot chocolate or tea with you too! Yes, these cold gray winter days need some color to them! Your butterflies are bright, cheerful and makes me yearn for SPRING!! We still have a blanket of beautiful white snow in our area....but I hope it's not a long winter! Be blessed, my sweet friend...you are such a joy! Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie, I wish you could be here, too. I'll bet we could put our heads together and come up with some awesome ideas for transforming junk to treasures :) We also have snow and it has been in the 20's all week. Today my poor sweetie is installing a new kitchen sink, and as always there are complications . . . nothing is as easy as they make it look on DIY TV. I do hope that you are having a lovely weekend.
DeleteBest wishes,
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Happy 2013, Connie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a colourful way to bring in the new year! May this year bring you bursts of vibrant colour in your life!

Hello Poppy, Are you home from your trip to Canada? Back to the sunny skies of Spain :)

DeleteOoooooooh.... Love the multiple butterflies you created in your journal in all their lovely bright colours, and love the green leafy background that surrounds them. I love your art journal...the bright colors and butterflies are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki. it is great to see you :)
DeleteWow, two wonderful journal spreads, Connie. I particularly love the butterfly page - the vibrant cheerful colours and the dimensional butterfly, revealing so many surprises - the sentiment on the second, however, is so true. Fabulous work!
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie, I am delighted that you like my journal pages, I do have a lot of fun working on them.
DeleteYour encouragement is greatly appreciated.
Your blogging sister, Connie
Hi Connie! Your doodles are always amazing and these butterflies are no exception! Wish I lived closer; I'd certainly drop by for a visit and a chat.

ReplyDeleteHello Anita, and thank you so much.
DeleteMy journal gives me a lot of restful enjoyment,
because I'm usually doing it cozied up in the family-room
with my sweet Steve and my little dog.
Have a delightfully marvelous day.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Connie, You seem to love color very much. it's good for you. I need to do this very thing with a journal. Something to make me keep my artistic self busy. So glad you are well. hoping your new year is blessed with good health and happiness. xoxo, susie
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, journaling is a great way to spend the long, long, long, winter evenings :)
DeleteI know that the days are getting shorter now, but it's not where you notice yet.
It always surprises me how much more energy I have in the warmer months when the days are longer.
So am substituting bright colors for day light, LOL.
And in someways it works :)
Have a great day, your blogging sister, Connie :)
Very creative- and brightly colored- I can see how this would brighten your spirits in the dreary winter time.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does :)
DeleteThanks for dropping in and have a wonderful day,
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
WOW! I love that butterfly. I want to attach a string to it and hang it from the ceiling!
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Hi Cindy,

It is so nice to hear from you.
I hope that your holiday was warm and cozy in your new home.
How fun it must have been to decorate :)
Have a lovely day, your blogging sister, Connie :)
That is absolutely beautiful and inspiring! It makes me want to start an art journal. I don't know if mine would be as nice.
ReplyDeleteOh yes you should start a journal . . . and it will be even better than mine.
DeleteI want to encourage you to do so . . . you will be glad that you did.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I think I'm going to "copy" you and maybe do a dragonfly.
I had a very special package delivered yesterday. Thank you so very much!!! I will be doing a post soon!
Hugs,
Kay
Hello Kay, you are very welcome. I would love to see what you do with a dragonfly in your journaling pages (or wouldn't it make a great greeting card). Be sure and post . . . I want to see your creation. I have another group of pages where I used the same idea, only with circles. I'll be posting it later this month.
DeleteHave a marvelous day, Your blogging sister, Connie :)
I love the butterfly journal!
ReplyDeleteConnie, you're so damn fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be ending of mine day, but before end I am reading this
ReplyDeletewonderful post to improve my knowledge.
Wow! Thank you! I continuously needed to write on my website something like that.
ReplyDeleteCan I implement a part of your post to my website?
