I finished the kitchen
and thought you might like to see it :)
This was the wall behind the stove two years ago.
Then last year when I made this milk sign,
I painted it turquoise.
As you can see I kept my chef.
I painted him on that door about ten or twelve years ago,
and he's become part of the family, LOL.
You may have noticed that the hot sauce bottles are gone.
Steve took them down for me, so that I could paint,
and now he's slowly washing them and putting them back up :)
That's his part of the kitchen . . .
He collects hot sauces everywhere we go.
Well, that's what I've been up to.
What have you been doing?
I hope whatever you're doing, you're having fun doing it :)
Your blogging sister,
Connie
I love the giant milk bottle and the green wall.
ReplyDeleteWe struggle to keep our limited counter space free. I like your spice jars above the stove.
Thank you, I purchased those large salt shakers at Walmart. I really liked them because they have two sizes of holes and one open pour sprout. Then Steve measured the stove and the shakers and made that rack for me :)
DeleteI love it!
What a nice fresh green, Connie! It looks great. Love your chef and that milk bottle!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, Thanks . . . that makes me happy :)
DeleteVery colorful and happy, Connie! I LOVE the chef!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hello Jane, thanks so much :)
DeleteWhat a great job. It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe new color is beautiful. I painted my kitchen this color a few years ago and still love it...I know you will enjoy this new color...
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
Hi Mona, this color really brighten up this space. I don't think I'll be changing it for a long time :)
DeleteThe colors are great, Connie! Love it! - Revis
ReplyDeleteHi Revis, thank you :)
DeleteLove your kitchen, color is certainly happy and cheery. Lots of counter space, would be a dream come true for me. I see all your guitars hanging in the back ground. (oh btw, thanks for the links to go to chordie and classic country) Oh that chef you painted on your door, is he ever sweet!!! Would be awfully hard to cover him up, he is a work of art in your kitchen. Gosh, that is alot of hot sauce, are all those bottles full??? Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHi Louise, all the bottles are full and all of them are different. He really doesn't have room for any more, they go around three walls, LOL. I'm glad you like the sites that I sent you. You can find almost any song you want there :)
DeleteConnie- I think your kitchen looks HAPPY! You did a nice job and I still like The Chef, too. I like a bright area to work in. Love it- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I like it too . . . it not only is bright and cheery, but it appears larger now :)
DeleteI have been working on the kitchen too. But just cleaning out all the drawers and cabinets, not nearly as exciting as this!! I ADORE the Chef!!! Believe me when I say if you lived close to me, I would pay you to come over and paint me one too. The first thing I noticed in the earlier pictures was the big milk bottle and the big clock, they are really pivotal to me. I'm trying to look all around and get tips for myself. My cabinets are this color. That looks like a white calendar frame that you have painted with chalkboard paint, I LOVE that idea. I have a big calendar frame up in my kitchen, but have not seen any in stores recently, I might try to do this. Actually I think I will look around Amazon for a frame, then paint it.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, if you are looking for frames, the best place I've found is yard sales. After you find one have your hubby cut a smooth piece of plywood to fit it and paint it with chalk board paint. You can find gorgeous frames at yard sales and flea markets. Great prices, too :)
DeleteThanks for this gracious comment . . . you're a sweetie pie.
I love the colours of your kitchen, in fact they are colours I intend using. I would want to spend all day in there xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Fran, I would love to have you come over and spend the day. Think of all the goodies we could make and the fun we would have making them together. I'm looking very forward to seeing your kitchen when it is completed :)
DeleteYour kitchen looks awesome. Love the fun colors.
ReplyDeleteHello Ann, thank you, I like them, too. The kitchen even looks bigger painted these colors :)
DeleteYour kitchen looks great. And the chef is fantastic! I'm glad you kept him!!!
ReplyDeleteI debated keeping him or painting over him . . . I'm delighted that you like him :)
DeleteI am definitely moving in, Connie! LOVE your kitchen - just one thing I was going to express shock and horror at - and you have moved them - the sauce bottles! I was envisaging you with an exceptionally long-handled feather duster, whisking away to keep them all dusted!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it all looks lovely. I could probably fit my entire ground floor inside it - but it is lovely! Lx
Hi Lynne, our kitchen used to have a bar that divided it from a eating area that we never used. So we removed it and made the kitchen much more user friendly. When we have company we either eat on the porch or the dinning room. When it's Steve and I we eat dinner in the family-room in front of the TV, and breakfast at the island in the kitchen. We both like to cook, so this gives us lots of room. I does look larger in the photos than real life:) I'm not sure why that is.
DeleteYou have great energy to paint twice in a year! Love the colors, and really love that chef!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI love the Aqua, bright and cheerful ~ it all looks wonderful! I am always amazed at what people collect and I have never heard of a Hot Sauce Bottle collection, how cool is that!!!! Hope Butchy is on the mend and doing well :) Judi
ReplyDeleteHi Judi, thanks for this sweet visit, I'm in a blue mood over problems with my laptop that I do not understand. Therefore; having a kindhearted visit from you is bringing me back to reality . . . all these little problems are nothing . . . in what really matters. Life is good :)
DeleteI love the chef you painted on the back of your door.. its super.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely homely kitchen. I love the colour.
You really do have a great imagination connie and have some super ideas..

DeleteThis is some delicious eye candy Connie! I love, love, love your kitchen! I've had fabric to make new curtains for my kitchen for several months now and I want to paint it too. You're inspiring me to get it done! Have a fabulous day!

Hi Patricia, Thank you. I'll just bet you are very busy, seems like there is always lots of catching up to do when you get back from a trip. Thanks for letting us tag along :)
DeleteYour kitchen makeover is marvelous. The bright colors and decorations surely make it a happier place and a great place to hang out!
ReplyDeleteHi Libby, I wish you lived closer . . . we could hang out in my kitchen and cook up a storm :)

ReplyDeleteHi Deann, thanks so much, what a sweet compliment :)
DeleteYour kitchen is awesome...not only beautiful colors, but so much character! Love the chef. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, I'm getting so much praise on my chef . . . I'm glad I decided to not paint over him :)
DeleteVery beautiful redo, Connie! Your kitchen looks so happy and I love the milk sign. I have been thinking that I need to redo my kitchen lately. It has been 8yr since we painted it, so it is due for an update. Thanks for the inspiration! Have a wonderful day, Holly
ReplyDeleteHi Holly, I am delighted that I could inspire you. It is always fun to redo a room, especially a kitchen . . . we spend so much time in that room, right?
Deletewhat a beautiful kitchen..
ReplyDeleteHi Lulu and thank you very much :)
DeleteI love your kitchen! It looks so homey and a great place to hang out and cook...it looks great!!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Steve and I both enjoy cooking . . . and eating, too :) It is fun to work in a cheerful kitchen, I think that we are going to enjoy this new make-over for a long time :)
DeleteThanks for your sweet words.
It's always so fun to see your home, and I love what you've done with the kitchen. Couldn't help noticing that wonderful spice rack too. Your new color combination is very happy looking. Isn't it fun changing things around. The rugs are wonderful too; love those colors like you do.
ReplyDeleteHi Sara, The rugs I found are making me quite happy, they are not only pretty and cheerful, but they don't show the dirt, like the solid colored ones I had before. They showed everything and I was washing them to death . . . after a couple of years all the backing was starting to crumble off :)
DeleteI think your kitchen looks wonderful and yes, happy! Who could not be in a good mood in such a kitchen with the pretty colors and signs!
ReplyDeleteHi Lana, thank you . . . it does make me smile :)
DeleteI love the fresh green paint and seeing your fantastic painted signs too. Thank you so much for visiting me recently, Connie. It's great to find your lovely blog, and I am looking forward to reading a lot more of it now!
ReplyDeleteHelen x
Hi Helen, it is great to have you visit. Thank you for the sweet compliments on my kitchen and signs. I do have a lot of love changing things up around here. I'm just an old hen feathering my nest :)
DeleteAqua is one of my favorite colors, but I have to tell you, your kitchen looks good no matter the color! I have stove/oven envy. What brand is it? Do you love it as much as I think I would?!?!! And oh my gosh, I so want a Chef on my kitchen door when we get the house finished! I LOVE HIM!
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Hi Cindy,
DeleteIf I lived closer I would paint you a chef . . . it would be fun :) The stove is a Sears stove, but we had to special order it because it is not standard size. You can find them on the Sears web site. We have had it for about ten years and it's been a dandy. The small oven is a regular oven and the large oven is convection, and I love the glass top . . . it cleans so easily. I would have rather had gas, but our only option would have been to have a propane tank in the backyard (our backyard is already small), so we purchased the electric, it comes in both :) So, if you haven't purchased a new range for your new home, that's where we bought it.
Have a lovely weekend and thanks for the sweet visit :)
Wow Connie, you've just been going like a busy bee doin' all that paintin'. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meri
Hi Meri, thank you, I'm happy that you like it. When I start a project I have trouble resting until it is completed. I get on a roll and put all of my energy into it. I have a brother that is just like me . . . we are always doing something :)
DeleteHi Connie, this is my favorite yet! I love those two colors together. I have been using that green a lot in my classroom and have been wanting to use the blue too. They are kind of safari colors, and the teacher and I in the other room are going for a rainforest theme.
ReplyDeleteYour chef is darling, and I like the idea of collecting hot sauce. Great idea, Steve!
What am I up too? Mainly just working and hanging out with my sweetie and as much family as I can. It is nearly fall, and we are hoping to go to Texas to watch some football at least once this season.
Hugs,
Kathy M.
Hi Kathy, it is great to see you. A rainforest theme sounds fun . . . there is a lot of things you can do with that, and many interesting topics to teach the kids. Texas . . . are you or your husband originally from Texas? Is it a college team or are you both Dallas Cowboy fans? I love your visits, and now I'm coming over to see what's on your blog :)
DeleteHi Connie, I've been away for 8 days....tryin' to get caught up with my blogging friends! I have to say, your HOME says HAPPY! I love all the UNIQUE, quirky, pretty, interesting things you show in your home....but to me, it is and says a HAPPY HOME!! LOVE the colors and of course, your paintings are adorable! Thank you for sharing....you always make me feel good when I visit you! Blessings~~~Roxie
