We have a new member to our neighborhood.

I hope she likes this blanket
and
that it will make her feel warm and cozy this winter.
It's not fancy, because I'm a beginner to crochet,
but I'm having fun learning :)
Keep Smiling :)

For a beginner I would say you have done really well! It looks lovely and the colours are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger
Good Morning Liz, thank you so much...it is just a simple double crochet stitch throughout except for the scalloped edge.
DeleteVery simple, I hope they like it :)
It is beautiful and you did a great job making it. I know she will love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty, thanks for visiting . . . I sure hope she does :)
DeleteOh so sweet. I"m sure baby and mama will love it! I've got two more babies to make blankets for, lickety split! So my crochet hook needs to get moving.
ReplyDeleteI'll be stopping by to see them. I love handmade gifts :)
DeleteIt's beautiful, Connie, and I'm sure it will be much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, thank you . . . I'm just a beginner and can use all the encouragement that I can get :)
DeleteOh my goodness, it is GORGEOUS!!!! Your neighbors are really lucky!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny, you're a very sweet friend. I love the kind words and encouragement :)
DeleteWow that's beautiful Connie. The new baby will be kept very cosy in this.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Hi Patricia, Our weather is getting colder by the day so I'm sure that they can use another blanket. I hope they like it :)
Deletethat's a pretty awesome blanket for a beginner. It looks great
ReplyDeleteHello Ann, thank you so much. I appreciate your encouragement . . . I know that we both like handmade items and trying our hand at new things. This is going to be my winter to crochet, quilt and embroidery . . . it shouldn't get boring around here :) A girl needs her hobbies especially when the cold winter winds blow.
DeleteI love to knit or crochet baby things to have on hand when a new baby comes into this world. I need to get to the yarn shop.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, I think that is what I will do after I get caught up on the babies that I already need to get ready for. It would be a great idea to have a girl and a boy blanket ready and stored in the closest. thanks for the tip :)
DeleteHi Connie! So nice to meet you! I'm loving the pretty colors of the baby quilt :) For a beginner you did a pretty awesome job with it! The new baby will be so warm and cuddly in it :) Thanks for finding me and for your sweet visit! Happily following you back through GFC! Have a great weekend! Hugs, Poppy
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Poppy, I am so excited to have you visit and even more excited that you are now a follower. Welcome!
DeleteI'm working on another baby blanket for a little boy. I'm going to do a cowboy theme and make a denim diaper bag to match it and make the gift complete. Thank you for your encouragement, crocheting is a new venture for me :)
What a thoughtful neighbor you are, Connie. I am sure this young Mother will be so pleased to have such a soft and colorful gift to wrap her sweet baby in. My Aunt made me a similar blanket for my first child and it was well loved through 4 babies. Have a lovely weekend! Hugs xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, thanks for your sweet words. These blankets do last a long time if they are taken care of. My mother used to crochet all the time and we have several blankets made by her loving hands :)
DeleteThe blanket looks very cozy. You did a very good job :). Your neighbors will love it for sure. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Hi . . . and thanks so much. I do hope that they like it :)
DeleteHow could she not love it? I would not have guessed you are beginner, it looks very difficult to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey, thank you, but no it is a very simple pattern. I hope that you are right about her loving it :)
DeleteAre you sure you are a beginner with crocheting??? This blanket looks like made by a professional! The baby will be so pleased! Love it! Looking forward to see more! Christa
ReplyDeleteOh, you are so sweet . . . but maybe you should look closer, LOL
DeleteIt is beautiful, Connie, you did a great job. I just do basic crocheting and sometimes make scarves or blankets. Sometimes I use odds and ends of leftover yarn to make a hodgepodge afghan. I hope that the new Mom keeps that blanket forever and remembers you when she sees it and tells her daughter about you. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, what a sweet thing to say . . . I am having fun with these basic stitches too, and there are a lot of things that can be made with them. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have fun with your little ones :)
DeleteHi Connie,
ReplyDeleteWOW! This blanket is amazing. I love the baby colors!!! So bright and cheery to use during the winter months. Now, this doesn't look like beginner work to me! Makes me want to try crochet....
Thank you for visiting me. I must do some homework on Google+ (and let's hope this comment gets published)!
Hugs,
Kay
Hi Kay, thank you for the sweet compliment, but really this i a very simple project :)
DeleteLove it! How thoughtful and generous of you to make that darling quilt for the neighbor! I'm certain that they will LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, my friend.
I am delighted that you like it . . . I am kind of in love with the soft baby colors, myself :)
DeleteHow pretty is that? Love it and I et she does! You are so sweet to do this for a neighbor!
ReplyDeleteThank you, these neighbors have lived across the street from us for 25 years and the mama is their youngest daughter, she was born just after they moved in and now living next door to her folks :)
Deletethats adorable
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteConnie, the blanket is beautiful. I just imagine that little baby girl wrapped up in it, and it makes me smile. Such a thoughtful gift, and so special because you made it for her. I think it's great you're teaching yourself to crochet. My mother was an avid crocheter. She taught me years ago, but I haven't done much since. I'm learning to quilt right now, but maybe I'll crochet again one day. I do like needlework. Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thanks so much for the delightful visit. My Mom taught me to crochet, too . . . but i've forgotten (it was a very long time ago) I do find that it is coming back to me . . . I suppose that any knowledge that we have buried back in the depths of our brain is always there. It just needs a little encouragement to come out of hiding :)
