Today is a long day and a day filled with prayer
for my Sweet Beulah.
We go along our daily routines
without much thought of the
dangers that are right
under our noses.
Or the sweet noses of those we love.
I was out in the barn sewing
on a quilt, while Beulah
was laying on the floor
keeping me company.
When she began to choke.
She is always putting things in
her mouth.
I looked in her throat and
couldn't see anything
and she soon seemed alright
accept for an occasional
hack.
This is her new haircut, she got it because we were planning a camping trip this week and thought it would be cleaner and easier to check her for ticks from hiking.
I called the vet and they said
to watch her overnight.
So the next day because she still
hacked occasional I took her
in and they did x-rays.
She had swallowed a straight pin
and they couldn't retrieve it
without surgery, but didn't want
to do it.
They set her x-rays to WSU
a veterinarian college, but they
were booked out and couldn't
take her. So, I've been keeping her
calm and waiting for a special
surgeon that comes to town
every Tuesday to do difficult
surgeries.
Now, I wait for the phone call
that tells me how it went.
It's been a very long morning.
oh Connie, that must have been very frightening, for you both. I hope she will recover well. Maybe invest in a very big magnet?
ReplyDeleteOh my!!! Poor doggy. Keeping you both in my thoughts.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Beulah. 💙
ReplyDeleteOh dear. As a long time pet owner, lover, I pray for all good to come to your sweet pup.
ReplyDeleteOh no! My dear Connie, please post an update and let us know how it went. I feel your pain. Just this morning I saw something sticking out of our tiny puppies mouth. She chews EVERYTHING. It was a sewing needle. I don't even know where she got it! Luckily she was chewing on the thread and I saw a glint of sunlight on the needle sticking out of her mouth!
ReplyDeleteThese puppies. We love them so much and I really believe they take more watching than a 2 year old. I really can't figure out where that needle came from. It's bothering me.
I'lll be praying for your sweet Beulah. Let us know the outcome.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
My cousin told me that when I started to sew and we still had are beloved Mandy. I will say prayers for Buelah.
ReplyDeleteI am praying for successful surgery and healing for your sweet Beulah. That is the first I have heard of a dog swallowing a straight pin, you are good to post the warning.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Connie! I sure will be praying for sweet Beulah! Puppies! UGH! LoL They will sure keep you on your toes!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
I worry about that with my cat. She is always looking at the littlest stuff on the floor. Imagine a pin rammed up their toe or foot.....I think about that all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope it goes good and they can get it out. I checked on your blog last night wondering if I had missed a post. I was thinking about you. Isn't that something! Take care and let us know. Sweet hugs, Diane

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Connie! How scary! I saw your newer post before this one, so I'm thankful it is out and she's recovering! Poor puppy!
ReplyDeleteOh Connie I sure hope to hear soon that your sweet baby has come out well from the surgery, I can only imagine how scary all this has been, you just never know what they are going to put into their mouth, so good that you had them check to see what was going on, hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteOmg, I hope she is OK, my pets do the same. You never know, my dog had been feeling sick he was eating poison berries that fall from a type of palm. They are like small children praying for your pup child. Lisa@Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
